It would be nice but they can just barely keep 558 flying [financially before anyone takes offence] so I dont see it happening , for now .

Can you really see that happening, I've just checked the date and it's months until April!

I think this sums it up nicely!

I agree completely.

It'd be great to see a Harrier flying in the UK but you're talking serious cash.

I think we have more chance of seeing Art Nalls' Sea Harrier at RIAT. Now there's a thought ...

You're right of course but if any organisation had the contacts it would surely be the VTTS Trust.

A lot of goodwill from the likes of the CAA RR BAe etc would be needed, again.

I don't see why the RAF couldn't have a Harrier Display Flight or HDF (like XH558 and the VDF). I know, we come back to money again. :(

Still it's nice to dream..

I've just punched the details in and

"Computer says no"

Aerodynamics of a brick if engine failure

Poor safety record (pilot error)

as much as I would love to see a Harrier stay in the skies, I dont think that I would be able to commit to a project like that while I continue to support XH558 :((

Now maybe if things were different and the Harrier was retired when it was expected too, maybe I could justify diverting funds from 558............. :D

For some time I've thought that we should have an RAF Historic Flight. And if that required public (individual not government) support then so be it. The RAF could continue to maintain the aircraft but 'We' would support them financially.

Presumably in the case of the Harrier, if they are sold abroad, there would not be a stock of spares as those would be required.

We have one, they operate under the interesting name of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight! ;)
