Freezing at Wellesbourne

Postby Sooty655 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 1:15 pm

Whilst many of you were enjoying the Twilight Extravaganza at Brunty, the hardy MaPS crew were busy at Wellesbourne drilling holes in the concrete pan and bolting down a nice big piece of steel plate to attach the nosewheel tie-down for XM655.

It was bitterly cold, especially in the prop wash from the flying school aircraft, but we now have a secured Vulcan, which is what really matters. :ymapplause:

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

No, but there was an unplanned break for freedom at Sunderland - we don't want 655 getting any silly ideas. :))

And I thought it was just the aviation equivalent of chaining by bike to the railings at Tesco's :)

Since we took the sand out, the guppy is a bit frisky in the wind. Can understand why you've done it ;)

We also put over £1000 worth of fuel in the No 2 tanks on Saturday to shift the cg forward. The Sunderland mishap caused a lot of damage to the ECM bay at the rear of the fuselage.

How right you are. This was all planned to be finished by mid December to be in good time for next January/February's bad weather. :ymapplause:

Last Saturday was somewhat of a panic response. :)) :))

We also put over £1000 worth of fuel in the No 2 tanks on Saturday

Oh dear, Sooty has started talking like an accountant since he's become the Treasurer.....

In the 'good old days' he would have said "we also put nearly 3,000lbs into the No 2 tanks on Saturday" :ymdevil:

I was just trying to show our loyal supporters where their money goes. :D

As long as I don't mention the committee away-day to Los Vegas, or the transfers to the Chairman's holiday fund, I don't see what harm it can do. :p
