Well hopefully we will all still meet at COTTESMORE on the 9th of December 2010.

The last flying at WITTERING is expected to be on or before the 15th of December 2010.

Wouldn't it be marvellous if it were all to happen on the same day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Evening all. I've not seemed to find the time to get on here for the past month or so, so I'm just catching up with everything. I cannot believe the pace with which these cuts are being brought in. Can't believe there is only a month or so to go of Harrier ops from Cottesmore. I only discovered the delights of the footpath that runs by the end of the runway 12 months ago.

Typically, despite the fact I'm only 45 minutes away from Cottesmore, I'll be working on the day of the IA visit, and the farewell 16 ship. I suppose I could hope they send them over East Leicester, but I doubt it somehow. Never seen a Harrier anywhere near my neck of the woods. Used to get the odd Tornado over when they were based there though...

Looks like I'd better get myself over to Cottesmore in the next couple of weeks for a final fix... :((

Not really mate.

I make more money those 2 weeks before Christmas, than I do for the previous 3 months combined. It would be a SERIOUS loss if I missed a couple of days ;)

Let's hope for good weather as the Harriers are quite active at the moment, we might even see them practicing for the 16 ship formation! ;)

Rumour has it that 1 Sqn may be flying a formation that day! ;)

I will chat with the 1(F) Aircrew when I go up on Tuesday, previously they have used 9 aircraft to form the figure 1 over Stamford, would be nice to see them do that again! :ymapplause:

Just seen this on FC http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/v ... 62&t=22925

"Due to the decision to retire the Harrier GR9 early, it is the JFH FCs intent to finish all Harrier flying with a flypast of 16 ac in diamond formation. The plan is to fly the formation at 1000’ on the following route: Wyton, Wittering, Cranwell, Waddington, Scampton, Coningsby and Cottesmore. The date will be the 15th Dec 10 with back up days of 14th and 16th, a weather call being made on Mon 13th. Timings are being aimed at commencing the flypasts at 1330hrs however if weather dictates then the time may flex."

I think I'll go to Coningsby that day, just hope it doesnt happen on the 14th.

Looking forward to the 9th :D
