Notice the 'error' on the right of the chart. Seems to have been entered as money left to get, not money got. I await the newsletter when it arrives.

Old Rigger wrote:From confused in Lincolnshire, it would appear that despite it being if they had not got 300,000 by the trustees meeting last night a decision was going to be made on the probability of the appeal reaching the target figure by Sunday, but having only intimated that it was a good result from the meeting despite this amount not having been reached (being short approx 48,000) and all off a sudden the update seems to be a large increase in the funding total within the last half hour, yet no news from the meeting last night so it has to be assumed that this money was known about so now the meeting update from last night will be saved again which to me is the wrong way around.

This is turning into a good episode for a new X Files programme with conspiracy theories abound ;)

Anyway who cares now, at least Taff and Co can do what they do best and continue to work hard to give the supporters what they crave for \:D/ so good luck guys hope you have many more days to go before you need to hang up your spanners.

half truths and inuendo. In the words of a scouser "Do one!!!"

How can it be half truths and innuendo when most of the comments/quotes are direct from various newsletters sent and posted on the VTSC web site and don't start the 'core supporters lark' either because most of us on here have, up untill recently, been just as much a core supporter as the rest of you, just because we have a different view on things does not make us the bad boys/girls or responsible for the situations the trust get themselves in, so I would say cut us some slack and stop castigating us.

I will be as concise as I can be here!!!

I have no idea where members of the public think 558 will get funding if there is no major sponsor on board!
They are a charity asking the public for donations is what charities do!!! We all know 558 can not earn her living.
Everyone involved works bloody hard and long hours and I think anyone who believes some are in it for what they get out of it is so far off the mark words fail me [doesn't happen often!!]
I know for a FACT that at least 2 of the large donations that have come on over the years have genuinly been last minute - I believe in 558s guardian angel!!!! but as I said last week if I was to donate a large amount I would make sure they weren't going to reach their target first....I suspect some others have the same thoughts...

However - it is hardly surprising

that... after flying 558 for 3 years the management state they now realise there is now very little chance of a large sponsor coming forward and need to make other plans!!!

that... after being told last spring that the funding appeal will last through out the season and 558s 50th birthday appeal is to be launched on 25th May [her birthday] it actually happened mid August!!!

that... we were told last spring there would be no more last minute crisis appeals yet this one cropped up a month before being told there is danger yet again of the whole thing folding!!!

that... after being told the amount needed is £400k it is then stated that we they need to be sure of £300k by the end of this week!!!

need I go on?

Many question what is happening & say they fed up with all because they are confused! Even to me who has seen behind behind the scenes how things work and the restrictions/constraints that are faced it does appear that at times like this 558 has lost her rudder!!! I liken it to DIY furniture instructions when you know how it all fits together they make sense, but when you don't......

Oct 29, 2010 by Ian Homer. Posted to category: General

From: Robert Pleming, Chief Executive, Vulcan to the Sky Trust.

Dear Supporters and all friends of XH558.

I have just come off the ‘phone to our Chairman of Trustees, and I was able to confirm that yesterday, the Trust was in receipt of over £57,000 in donations. I am delighted to let you know that the Board of Trustees now believes that the Appeal has sufficient momentum to raise the remaining £75,000 before the end of the month.

As the result, he has agreement of the Board of Trustees that the Trust has sufficient liquidity to continue to trade, and accordingly the notices to our employees have been rescinded.

This is obviously really good news, and is very much down to you, our core supporters, and the desires of the wider public, who have dug deep into their pockets to move us forward once again. We have received tremendous support from thousands of people, and from literally all four corners of the world! On behalf of XH558, thank you so very much!

If you were waiting for it to become clear whether a donation to XH558 would be worthwhile, now is your moment. We have achieved a huge amount in the last few days, and the Board is now confident that we can move forward to a successful 2011. We do need to keep up the donation momentum all the way through to Sunday 31st October, so please take that step and make a donation, join thousands of others, and help ensure we break through our target by Sunday evening.

Call 0845 5046 558 or donate online by Card or PayPal bt visiting http://www.vulcantothesky.org/donate

All the team are fully appreciative of the strength of this support and what it means to our future as custodians of XH558, not only in the immediate few months, but in our longer term planning.

Next week, we will roll out the next phase of our plans to take the whole project forward; we will explain these in our regular e-newsletters and Web Site announcements.

By the end of November, we will have instigated a new mail-out and Media Campaign, thanking everyone for their generosity and inviting them to take part in securing a predictable platform on which to build the future.

The mailing will contain a Christmas Mail Order catalogue together with details of several new and exciting ideas on how you can become involved with the project, all aimed at lifting our regular monthly income stream and generating worthwhile “highs” each quarter.

Central to our goals, will be establishing a permanent Home Base for the Aircraft where we can provide easy public access and build up additional commercial activities. All this will also open doors for our Educational aspirations and enable expansion into organised visits from schools all around the country. Discussions on this continue, and we will bring you news of any developments just as soon as we can.

Meantime, it is a time to be thankful, but also to look forward to exciting times ahead in a very positive spirit.

Once again, we need to thank everyone who has contributed to making this progress possible.

With kind regards,

Robert Pleming

I am REALLY PLEASED it has got over another hurdle, just needs to be placed on the SOUND FINANCIAL FOOTING for the future!

Just read that, excellent though expected result, so well done to the 'core supporters and the greater British public' and hope that:

Next week, we will roll out the next phase of our plans to take the whole project forward; we will explain these in our regular e-newsletters and Web Site announcements.

By the end of November, we will have instigated a new mail-out and Media Campaign, thanking everyone for their generosity and inviting them to take part in securing a predictable platform on which to build the future.

and

All this will also open doors for our Educational aspirations and enable expansion into organised visits from schools all around the country.

actually gets done this time and works, so good luck in this endeavour, I hope that was all positive enough and is not considered 'half truths and inuendo' :p
