It's not about bitching, gossip or anything of the sort. It's about saying what you feel without the fear of being 'moderated', belittled or made to feel a nuisance. If Naddy or anyone else want to get up on their soap box and let it all out (you know what I ;) mean) then go for it - this is the place. We've all got one common aim here, but simply talking about planes isn't going to keep 558 in the air. There are some hard truths to be learned and a lot of faults within the TVOC and knowing what they are can help us know what to do for the best. Walk away from it some might say.

I quite agree about saying what you think, but when it's been said over and over again...

I know where you are coming from Ian, but I think in 558's case she's very much exempt from this. Ive only been a club member for a few months, but I'm frustrated as hell - so those who have been members for years must have a lot of "getting it off their chests" to be done :D. Also, this is very much confined to this thread, not spread like a cancer throughout the entire forum unlike other places.

I find it the ultimate complement that users of this forum are spilling their hearts out as they are.

Let free speech reign :)

you beat me to it Wedgy - I also think it's a case of 'getting it off one's chest' - I'm sure things will settle Ian, please give it a chance.

By the way I love this forum [hence my number of posts :D ] so much so infact I have hardly looked at tvoc website for the last week.

There have been one or two requests for your 'inside info' that I have seen. The vast majority really appreciate your input. Shame one or two others were so negative.

I see that our good friend JiR has had a bit of a rant about poor communication and lack of action (surely not?!). Had a bit of a grilling about it. Poor bugger!

I've ben wondering about JinR. The way he writes has a style about it that seems familiar but not, if you see what I mean? I wonder if he is already a member and has joined again under a "nom de plume". :-?

I've always said that - he's been so quiet, people have been saying he's not been online. I've said he's been on using a different name...... There's no way someone with that much passion could stay away!!!!!

He's made exactly the same points we've been making about communication..... he's only repeating what's been said a thousand times before, and has been ignored the same amount of times. (Bless him)

I don't know what makes him think he's going to be listened to when everyone else hasn't been listened to!!!

I could imagine him sat there ~x(

Blimey - what a lot to read - I've got no work done this morning (don't tell the boss!).

Having followed goings-on on the old and new forum for a number of years, it was obvious things weren't quite as they should be (understatement!), so reading this thread has been very enlightening. Thank you to all who have posted openly, and please continue to do so.

Wished I could have been there, but was doing a charity pig roast that day. For me, the 9th May at Coningsby was the day to remember for a lifetime.

Re: What happened to XM?

Well, at lat some plain speaking about TVOC, and for my part, airing the views I have long held about certain aspects of the operation.....
It occurs to me that there are several conflicts of interest that exist within TVOC/VTST, most notably the same people having control over parts of both organisations, surely this prevents proper discussion and review of events & decisions? Who is whose employer? My understanding is that donations go to the trust, which then pays money over to TVOC, so surely the operaing company has to be accountable to the trust? How can this be thought if the same people are in control of both organisations?
And missed opportunities? Well, there are too many to list I'm sure and most of them greater in potential than my own experiences, but two I know of through personal experience:
SEAT Sport; Asked back in May for conract to be made regarding a hanger tour, invitation to SEAT Including Jason Plato) to be a sponsor etc etc....result? Silence until I raised it on the open forum, when gosh, lots of emails to me from Michael Trotter saying what can we do blah blah. Too Bl**dy Late- SEAT have now pulled out of motorsport in the UK, and so the contact is lost; no advertising on their Touring Cars, no advertising in the pit lane, and no sponsorship of any kind.(ok, so they were never going to hand over millions, but as Tesco say, every little bit.....)
A K Aviation Services: Tony Kinns owns this company, and owns the fuel bowser that resided at Brunty for over two years, charging a low rent for it, and not chasing payment for the low amount charged. Did he get an invite to st flight? Did he get one to 2nd flight? 3rd? Any? Nope. Again, Michael Trotter has claimed to have been in touch and smoothed this over, not that it should have needed smoothing in the first place,, but I hear differently from this end....
Ok rant over....

There is no such thing as TVOC anymore, that's purely historical. There is Vulcan To the Sky Trust who operate the aircraft and Vulcan To the Sky Club who do the fundraising, etc and which we belong to :)

Unfortunately, all attempts to get them to to clear up the confusion on their website, especially their domain name, has been ignored. The website still states:-

'Vulcan Operating Company
Engineering and Operations Division of VTST'

So does it exist??? Who knows.

If you had been following the project for years it is still as confusing now to people like me as it would be to any new members who try to follow how the project has evolved over the years.

I did write a large missive for this post but in hind sight have deleted it before posting as it has all been said before. Instead I am just pleased that through determination, dedication, devotion and hard work she made it back in the air.

Dunno if the forum will survive under the new regime.

One thing they ought to learn is communication skills - and at least have have the decency to reply to PM's and Emails. I have tried many times via PM and Email to suggest fundraising ideas to no avail/reply.

I have posted a few on the forum as ideas. Not even had acknowlegement.. until yesterday when Airfix was mentioned.

It kinda makes you think you are wasting your time.. and 558 is already destined for failure.

Eddie has breathed new hope into this, Smiler and gang are working thier nuts off to fix her. We can but HOPE she survives the winter and comes back next year. I am getting pissed off at the doubters out there...

Meanwhile.. back to topic. Was XM pushed or did he jump ?
