No :( Just thinking out loud. But what would they do if they say it is grounded forever, and then someone comes up with the money, can they go back on the decision and say it is now saved?

I don't know, but I would have thought that anyone in the aviation world would be aware of 558s plight and if they were to come forward, they will have done so by now! ;)

I agree any major company sponsor would have come forward by now if they were going to get one - saying that of course there are many companies who have helped in the past either by doing stuff for free or at cost I'm sure if all that was added up the £7m they quote would at least double if not treble the cost of her return,

As a private sponsor if I had that amount of money I would leave it to the beginning of next week before I came forward in the hope someone would beat me to it !!! :))

I'm not sure when the redundancy notices went out or whether they are effective form the 28th Oct or 1st Nov.

Depends on when / if the Trustees call in the administrators - from the moment they walk in the staff are redundant and all the assets within the administrators' control. The Trust effectively would cease to have any control over '558's destiny from that point - over to the bean counters whose role would be to maximise the value of the Trust's assets.

However, the wrinkle is that the Trust doesn't own '558 - the general public / nation does - so how the administrators would address that conundrum is interesting... Hopefully, we shall never find out.

Perhaps they only own it when they have funds, when there are no funds it becomes OUR aircraft again! ;)

The latest on 558 is you can vote in a poll as to what you would like to happen to her, scroll towards the bottom of the page

Grounded Forever or Flying Abroad?

That's not a poll.

It's just another cynical attempt to blackmail the remaining supporters. ~x( ~x(

What a sham of a way to gain support, who markets for them? There is no wonder funding is down the pan. The real supporters of this type of aircraft will not be subjected to this type of fundraising. Why not put out a true survey, one that gets the right feedback. X(

Well you're not the only one to say that -

The problem is as I see it this money is only to see them through to the end of the year, I have seen nothing as yet to give me confidence that there will be any finance in place to see 558 through to the next display season.

Please point me in the right direction if there is....

This campaign will be launched next week – once the database to manage it has been completed.

It is supposed to have been running for a couple of weeks now, but there have been no announcements of great success. Wonder why.

Just saw that one and fell off my chair ,an original way to tell everyone that "we give Up Please rescue us".Remaining supporters I looked at the bottom of the forum home page I can't believe they only have 485 members left .Wheres the other 700-800 from the old forum gone .Or have they taken the opportunity to get out fast.

True survey Whats one of those ?? :ymdevil: Having tried to get 558 publicity when living next door to Leuchars I asked several times for assistance from those on high and their publicity machine i found out how much help that wasn't .(yes that is correctly worded ) So a true survey is about what you have.I figure that the trident team & Sally B's crew to name but 2 are going the right way about getting funds to do what they want .558 as I understand it is not owned by the trust only held/managed by them on behalf of the nation so have been at a loss for a while trying to figure out how the h*ll they can sell her to anyone if they do go into administration surely that will bring up all sorts of legal reasons as to why she can't be sold is not really an asset of the trust but really belongs to the HLF as the major creditor .NO I ain't going down that road I don't know enough about it .But I guess with the likely hood that they fold at the end of the month I can only guess that the vultures will be sniffing around.Personally I hope they don't go under so that yes she flies on into the future and Taff and his crew don't end up after all their dam hard work loosing out on something all of them have given long hours and a lot of blood sweat and yes tears I guess over the years to get her where she is today .I also can't imagine how DT,MW & the others in the flight team since her wheels left the tarmac at Brunty that day could possibly feel if all their hard work and expertise and input into getting her back into the air were to go to waste in such a short period of time will feel.

its in the how to help section under butterfly effect, think they have had 12 sign up.

must say this latest press release is shocking, agree with earlier post Blackmail, any support I did have left has gone, I love seeing 558 fly, love the effect she has on the children, she could of been great (should of) but not with this management team.

Any how what are the trustees doing about securing funding, they all roll in high places lets see some dosh from those companys

VTTST holds her in trust for the nation - something like an 80 year mortgage! We, the public, own her via the HLF investment used to purchase the aircraft from C Walton Ltd.

@ Jack - the Trustees are working damned hard, but securing corporate investment when those companies are laying people off is a nigh on impossible sell in the boardroom. Personal investment is much more likely IMO. Furthermore, it was through a contact of the Trustees that the donation that secured 2010's season was realised...

So start negotiations with anyone who will give her a home and use the last few quid to fly her into RETIREMENT!
How the BLOODY HELL are they still HANGING ON to the hope of a MAJOR CORPORATE SPONSOR in this current economic climate?

If you look at the Butterfly link now, you will see latest figures have now been added. Usually updated weekly once figures are available to me. Look at the 'last updated' line at the bottom for future reference.

Just 32 'fresh' standing orders, can potentially raise over £36,000 in a year! Expand these out at £5.58 a time or more and the potential is clear to see.

Just to clarify an earlirer posting - there is no point promoting a standing order scheme while a major funding drive is under way. Cash is needed now!

Promotion of the scheme will start with a leaflet in Web Store orders (now over 200 per week), since these get direct to potential supporters. Afer that, there will be a mail-out to 40,000 on the mailing list and promotion by the new e-newsletter which is now read by over 25,000 people.

Of immediate interest: £28,000+ has been added overnight to the Appeal, so less than £249,000 is now required to secure the immediate Winter period.

Any support you can give now, will be much appreciated to build on plans for bringing XH558 to a far larger public audience in the Spring.

Regards,
Ian.
