558 & Coventry Help For heroes 26th Sept

Postby Jogger321 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:29 pm

Ok I'm aware what is says on the official site Land (approx 11.00am) and take off (I've heard around 3ish) but just wondering if there is any chance of a little display too??

Going to be stacks of people as in reality its a bit of a "Coventry Air Show" splendid if this is possible.. As someone who attended a sunny Sywell only for 558 not to appear because of atrocious weather down south...fingers crossed :)

I would doubt it very much - to hold a 'display event' requires abiding by much stricter CAA rules than holding 'Fly in' - you may get a couple of passes if you are lucky but doubt there will be a display.

Hi all.

Just got in from the show at Coventry.A good day all round with 558 turning up just after 11am and departing around 3pm.One mishap happened during the see off when for some reason the engine intake blanks were left behind 558 and as she pulled away one of the blanks flew towards the crowd and was only stopped by the crowd line fence now a Vulcan intake blank weighs in at about 15 kgs and is the size of a table top and if it had hit anybody then the sh1t would of hit the fan for sure. They also lost a sign from the towing arm which also blew over.
Me thinks the ground crew took their eye off the ball for a second. [-x

Whoops!

TSR-2 simply got the first 3 right. ”
