Bomb Bay Roll of Honour.

Postby PhantomAviator » Fri Sep 10, 2010 3:23 pm

As posted on the other site.
TVOC
Names on Bomb Bay doors
Following adhesive test trials earlier this season, Vulcan to the Sky Trust are pleased to announce, a Roll Of Honour with names who contributed to the Restoration Project, are now presented on the Bomb Bay doors of the aircraft.

Look out for the first public appearances with these fitted at Jersey and Leuchars Air Displays.

Would be even nicer for people if they published a picture on the Website.
Especially for those who will not be at jersey or Leuchars and for those without telecopic vision.

But it is at least a step forward.

Thanks for posting that, finally one of the promises has come to fruition!

Oberon, why have you appeared to take this as a snipe at the engineers, or is it only the engineers that can take photos?

I am sure the poster was not aiming at you guys, as we have said on numerous occasions you are all held in the highest esteem by us mere mortals watching from the sidelines and afar afield and are fully aware of the workload you currently and usually have :ymapplause: .

Correct, my post was not a dig at any of the Engineers.

Perhaps I had better give a bit of hindsight to this issue.

Back in the days of the restoration, not long before first flight.
A meeting was held and it was agreed that the bomb bay doors would display 'A Roll Of Honour'.
This was agreed to be done so that people visiting Bruntingthorpe could view it.
But it was put on to the back burner and if people enquired it was given an excuse along the lines of it will be done, it is in the process etc.

Needless, to say that she is no longer at Bruntingthorpe, with nothing in the pipeline for where she will actually be this closed season for people to view.

So it is back to my initial post.

Would be even nicer for people if they published a picture on the Website.
Especially for those who will not be at jersey or Leuchars and for those without telecopic vision.

Or are we to take it that the TVOC website is reliant only the Engineers for photographs?
(Once again not a dig at the Engineers).

But should one of the Engineers, when they have time, chose to post a picture of the Roll of Honour, I feel sure that everyone would be very grateful.

We had Mackrick helping us out today with the launch to Leuchars and I thought I saw him photographing the bomb bay doors when we were doing the start up checks, so hopefully, you may have a shot of the names posted here before long. :D

Ok people as Oberon said we have been rather busy .... only took a couple of photos today though ....
As for other people taking photos, being on an RAF base there are only the engineers and we don't always have the time....

Sorry about the quality ... engines running ... lots happening .... but will try and get a few more tomorrow .....

A big thanks to 3M for finding a way of fixing logo's etc to inside of the bomb bay doors that meets all the safety criteria I think is in order as well. Its taken some years to become a reality............
