Oli, was just saying, I kind of expected more than 3 pics on a whole thread about you taking pictures, thats all, was just a tongue in cheek comment
As for photoshop, ahhhh the age old debate. Who cares if someone uses photoshop or not. None of us on here are professional photographers trying to sell our photo's for money, it's our hobby and if a bit of PS tweaking here and there makes that person feel like they have a better picture then so be it!
I stopped posting my photographs on UKAR because it's a massive bitchfest full of pro photographers and ego's. Interestingly enough though, half the comments I got were about using PS to improve my photo's and people were stunned that I did not use photoshop. I found that quite shocking coming from the pro's who I thought would appreciate a straight from the camera shot to show off someones skills and knowledge of their camera. Instead, it seems that on there it's all about how great at PS you are and producing a faultless overprocessed picture that's crisper than a Walkers Salt n Vinegar. Oh and some of the cropping that goes on over there is horrendous, I hasten to add, in MY opinion.
I did an A Level in Photography and started a degree in it as well. It was all 35mm film and processed by yourself. If you did not have a decent shot from viewing the negatives then it wasn't worth wasting the chemicals to process it. At airshows I had £50 worth of film and took 10 minutes composing the bloody shot so I did not waste any film! This is why I LOVE digital. When I went to see the Red Arrows at Silverstone earlier this year, it was an 8 minute display and I rattled off 428 photo's. Of those 428 there were 20 that I thought were worth keeping and posting on here. I do not know my camera inside out and I still struggle with settings, therefore, if I find a good photo that's composed well but the settings I used are not quite right then YES I will use PS to compensate for that. It is also great for erasing dust bugs
