Twlight reheat run is on

Postby 320psi » Fri Feb 06, 2009 12:08 pm

Hi all,

Its due to thraw abit, and the forecast for tomorrow is for a suuny but cold day with + 1 temps

To all who plan to join us tommorrow I have pleasure in telling you we are going for it :)
But............

If the runway is still covered in snow and ice, it will be a static reheat run like the last one at the bottom (the Q shed end) of the runway, as the peri track is snowed up and towing the areo up to the top with cars following wont be possible.
Dave Walton is going to sweep the bottom end with the big sweeper for us.

But that said, if its all gone then a fast run might be on the cards we just gotta 'play it by ear' during the day.

Everyone will have the Chris Norris 'briefing' as per last time on the apron infornt of the hangar before we 'go'

Everything else still stands, gates open 2pm park up where you did last time, on the peri track opposite the shed.
Come and wander round and enjoy the afternoon, its goona look good if theres snow lying around, oh get plenlty of clothes on and remember ear defenders ;)

See ya Tommorrow

Hope all goes well Andy. I wish I could come, but I'm too busy digging the foundations for an apron for my Lightning collection.

Thanks all, yep I took my phone, dont get much chance to take piccies, busy, you know ;)

Anyway

Hope you enjoyed it, those that came, we did, feed back is a good thing, considering the 'trying' conditions, is there anything you think we could have done better ?

Shame 904 went all 'lightning' on us

We tried, gave her No1 starter 4 shots and 4 'B' failures, so its no go after that, Im sure it was down her going crowd shy and knowing we have fixed 728 X(

Seriously the very low temps didnt help and our batteries were on their limits

I bet next time out she will fire up first press :ymblushing:

Shes a Lightning and shes old

Keith did us proud, it was really good to catch up with him and his Lightning stories after so many years of him being 'overseas', he is back in the uk for some time now and Im sure he will be back to thrill us all with his 'bouncy' Lightning enthusiasum
;)
Really good to see so many people brave the frezzing weather, we did really well funding wise, and have enough now to get the steel up around the front and the cladding fitted over and around the doors, thanks all who came for supporting us ;)

Heres some piccies I snaped with my phone camera, not as good as I sure lots of our visitors got, I wait your posts

We were greeted this morning by the doors being closed for the first time in 15 years, and even though they arent working properly yet, boy did they look good :)

Then it was onto snow clearing and as you can see from the pics below it was abit deep
:((

'Beak a boo' 728

Tons of icy snow to clear X(

The star of the day, she had a good telling off later ;)

Stanair lads arrive to open the doors for us, at last ;)

There she is

Snow clearing crew, thanks all who helped

More clearing

And the sun came out and dried her off

Image

Image

And the new bottom track, lined up, and waiting for the weather to clear for the final concrete fill

Big steel plates over the gap so we can roll 904 out

Image

And when I was in 904 letting the brake pressures down at the end of the day, I took these for you, aview of the 'office' at night ;)

Here's 'me lad' he had a wonderfull day, snow balling all the time, on the way home he told me not to talk to him as he was to tried to talk HA ! Ive worn him out, I thought it was impossible
;)

Thanks again to all who came and helped and supported us, every little helps us get this Q shed finished. :)

Heres to our next do in April [;)]
