I see Bicester had another crash this week but luckily no one was hurt - pilot walked away and thankfully no one hurt on the ground. He crashed landed on top of someones hedge with the wing touching the garage roof!

Very sad loss indeed, RIP.

The Banbury light aircraft one could be interesting to see where the parachute came from and if it was involved in causing the crash, also don't parachutes in the air normally have someone attached, I hope there does not turn out to be a fatality from this one.

According to PPRuNe:

perky cirrus wrote:The BBC's photo shows it (not surprisingly) to be a Cirrus. I've heard elsewhere that it's believed to be an SR20 and the first CAPS pull in the UK, if not in Europe. Nice to hear that the people on board have been saved by the parachute. Lousy day for flying though, very low cloud across most of Southern/Central England.

I never knew a parachute for an aeroplane existed, what a clever idea! This is the official site which is very interesting:

Some of the newer gliders have recovery chutes too.

Thanks for the gen on the parachute, did no realise that this sort of thing was used, learn something new every day and it obviously works then. I know military aircraft test flights use a spin recovery chute attached at the back of the aircraft during flight testing just in case the aircraft auto spin recovery does'nt work as advertised.

It was on the National news at 6 - the clip they showed proved what a great application adding a chute is. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Amy's funeral is tomorrow in Edinburgh :( I expect there will be a massive turnout from the gliding community.
