TDC and I are going to Coningsby tomorrow.

1 Who is interested in joining us?
2 Where is the best place to go without upsetting the natives?

Oooo have fun, supposed to be nice weather this week!

I wish I could join you but I have a broken fuel line on the bike :((

Car park just along from the BBMF museum is good and usually has a burger van there too, there's a mound there (well there was when I last went) which makes for good photo's over the fence. Carry on walking down that road and you can get right under whatever is taking off. It's awesome.

If you want to be closer to taking off and landings then head over to the crash gate on Cross Keys Lane. Be considerate when parking as it is patrolled but there's a small amount of gravel and grass verge to use to avoid blocking the gate.

Don't park on the road for Top Gun photo's as it's double yellows and you will get told off :ymblushing: =))

They are specially pre-curved pipes to fit on motorbikes due to it being really tight underneath the tank so it's a Honda O.E part. Ordered it today should be here tomorrow. Despite that being a pain in the bum my health is still not up to 250 miles in 1 day, maybe 25 ;) :(

Do you know how to read Notams? You can have a look and see what movements there are for tomorrow. In the "Burger" car park up from BBMF there are usually a few avid spotters there from 8am with scanners and LOADS of info which is handy. I spent 3 days there last time from 8am right down till late afternoon and out of the 3 days I saw loads of Typhoons, a Harrier, the BBMF took off and landed in a day and some Jaguars was an excellent surprise! It is definately one of the more "reliable" bases to guarantee you activity.

Looks like you've chosen a day when BBMF aren't scheduled to appear anywhere - so they could well be in the hangar if you want to do a visit.

To be honest she is usually within earshot most days!

looks like I picked the wrong spot when I went. (by crash gate 1) but I'm tall enough to be able to see over the fence there. I had clear sight of the landings.

they have been very active for the past week, lots flying in and out.

Is crash gate 1 at the east end? There's a 6' wooden fence there that prevents me seeing anything

I drove past the main gate and kept going until I can't go no more!! there were 2 crash gates (sure one said crash gate 1) there's a silly fence in the corner but then it's chain mail fencing, I'm 6'2 and could just see over the top of it. however, standing on my rack (on my towbar) I could see everything.

I had never been before, (and google maps wasn't working) there were people there so it looked as good place as any, I went round to the BBMF hanger but it was all apron in front of it, do i go further down the road next time going away from the village?

Red is BBMF hangar
Green is the main viewing car park
Blue is the Mound - the farmer is friendly & doesn't mind you using his land BUT you need to park so he has access if required

The other end there is no dedicated parking and a 6' wooden fence.

You were half way along on the northern edge near the large white[ish] square. I went there once last year but the aircraft were fairly high by the time they were level with me.

There are other viewing areas but the green & blue indicated are mostly used

Wonder why they put on the top two feet - obviously un-necessary. ;)

:))

They were night flying last fairly late so there may not be much activity until this afternoon.

UPDATE: 7 Typhoons were diverted to Waddington last night after one burst a tyre on landing at Coningsby
