Really sorry to ask this, but isn't taxiing spelt with two "i"s rather than with a "y"?

And might be able to go, will talk to the father :D

dictionary.com says taxying or taxiing... however the spell checker on Google Chrome seems to prefer taxiing (but rather interestingly doesn't recognise 'Google') :)

If I were to call it Taxiing, I'd spell it with double i. I always call it "Aborted takeoff" as I think that is probably the correct term (??)

Blame whoever made the poster ;)

[-x No, an aborted take off is just that, the intention is to get airborne, but for some reason that intention is abandoned.

A fast taxi is a fast taxi, there are subtle differences!!

I think the commercial aviation world calls it a Rejected Take-off.

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

We always considered Taxiing, whether normal speed or fast, to be moving the aircraft around the airfield from one point to another.
IE; taxiing from bay to perry, then to end of runway for take off.

So to move from one end of the runway to any point up to the other end of the runway using a taxiing manoeuvre is a fast taxi.

For those who want to look up manoeuvre in aircraft terms I will save you the task.

manoeuvre US, maneuver [məˈnuːvə]
n
1. a contrived, complicated, and possibly deceptive plan or action political manoeuvres
2. a movement or action requiring dexterity and skill
3. (Military)
a. a tactic or movement of one or a number of military or naval units
b. (plural) tactical exercises, usually on a large scale
4. (Engineering / Aeronautics) a planned movement of an aircraft in flight
5. (Transport / Nautical Terms) any change from the straight steady course of a ship
vb
1. (tr) to contrive or accomplish with skill or cunning
2. (intr) to manipulate situations, etc., in order to gain some end to manoeuvre for the leadership
3. (intr) to perform a manoeuvre or manoeuvres
4. (Military) to move or deploy or be moved or deployed,
as military units, etc.[from French, from Medieval Latin manuopera manual work, from Latin manū operāre to work with the hand]
manoeuvrable US, maneuverable adj
manoeuvrability US, maneuverability n
manoeuvrer US, maneuverer n
manoeuvring US, maneuvering n

But the difference between a fast taxi and aborted take off is, intent and energy managment.

OK, how do you categorise the NOSE WHEEL OFF THE GROUND? That is not part of a TAXIING manoeuver!
