Tragic. And it would appear that this is the first fatal crash of this aircraft. :( :(

Sadness...........

Why did it happen?
How did it happen?

The answers to those questions should ensure it does not happen again.

Thoughts with the families of those lost. :( :(

The enquiry will reveal the facts - we hope - but sadly they do not necessarily prevent accidents happening. Occasionally planes crash and always will. And that is of no consolation to the families of the dead. :( :(

It was practising for an Airshow at the weekend, thats all the information so far.

Fair amount of speculation going around if it was the same plane and crew from RIAT. Very Sad. RIP and thoughts to their families and friends.

Based on the maneuvers they are doing in this video, and based on the preliminary witness-reports of this crash, I'd say one of the most likely causes would be a skid-induced stall/spin at very low altitude which made it unrecoverable. I fly small planes but never anything this big, but the principals of flight are the same with that type of scenario. These C-17's are pretty incredible, almost like a cub, but even cubs have their limitations..

Exactly and the inevitable speculation is what we do NOT need. X(

No but it will always happen everywhere, around the world by millions of people and you can't stop it. I can understand it, it's the same as any accident. Until you know the facts you think about the what if's and try to make sense of what has happened. I don't think people mean any harm by it, it's just a natural thing to do when something happens and you don't know why.

Yes, you are correct, but it doesn't make it right. And no harm is intended, I am sure, although in some cases where people "conclude" that the cause was human error, that cannot be helpful to the families involved. We have all been subjected to thousands of words on various forums and blogs, but I just don't find it helpful or instructive, I'm afraid.
