Thank you for that. Regrettably the annual visit to the Airshow never allows time to see any other aspects of this historic airfield. :(

It embarrasses me to say although I only live a few miles from BH and drive past the Chapel regularly ,it's the first time Iv'e stopped and gone in :ymblushing: in my defence I think that when you live close to an attraction etc you don't tend to visit because you always think you can go anytime ,if that makes sense :(

It makes complete sense and we are all guilty, if that's the right word, of ignoring what's on our doorstep. And probably for exactly the reason you suggest.

Thank you Aceyone for posting the pictures. I only live about 10 miles from Biggin Hill and am sorry to admit that I have never set foot inside the Chapel - something I must rectify very soon!

I have also intended, for many years, to visit the 'RAF Church' :- 'St Clement Danes' in Central London. This Church is part of the 'Battle of Britain Heritage Walk' in London and you can see all the details (and download a map of the Walk) by using the link below:

Thanks for that link.never heard of that before,I'm going up to London soon so I will be visiting some of these places if possible :) Also I noticed that across the road from the BH Chapel there was a new banner announcing proposed Biggin Hill Heritage site, near where the old officers mess was I think,be good if it comes off :)

Yes it's kind of weird that you will go somewhere on holiday, abroad or otherwise and frantically rush around trying to see all the local attracions ( even if,it must be said ,that you're not really interested in say,a 400 year old ruin that means absolutely nothing to you ) and yet on your own doorstep there are probably things far more relevant and interesting to you ,I mean I live a 20 min train ride from one of the ( supposedly ) greatest cities on Earth and yet since I stopped driving trains into London some 12 yeras ago ,Iv'e only been there once or twice to visit someone in hospital ! yet people will travel from the far side of the world to see the sites ,mind you ,I don't like London anyway :))

Well in all honesty I used to actually look forward to work ( most days ) driving trains all around Kent was a buzz, driving into SE London could be a bit of a pain ( some proper lairy yoofs out there ) but most days was brilliant until one day I went for a routine medical and they found that I had a heart defect and that was that ! no more driving out on the main-line ,I got stuck in a depot moving them about for cleaning/formating etc, still enjoyed it though .( not quite up to piloting a Vulcan )
