RIAT 2010 Photo's

Postby 350wedge » Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:43 pm

Here are some of my Sunday photo's from RIAT, despite the appalling conditions for photography I had a really great day.

I spent most of it with Mayfly and DT wandering around in the morning and then watching the flying display. We bumped into a few other Iconic members on our travels up and down the static line. I think the general consensus was that it just didn't feel quite as packed as it normally is.

Also managed to spend some money in the Vulcan Village on the newly released XH558 2009 Yearbook. Its well worth the tenner price tag, lovely book with some great photo's in ;) :D

Anyways despite the dull and dreary conditions managed to still get a few half decent shots so enjoy.... :D

Wonderful photo's 350, you did really well considering the horrible grey backdrop. I love the Falcon and Apache shot and the Raptor pics are brilliant, what a machine!! Thanks for sharing :D

Nice pics y'all ;)

I was definately miffed the lack of flares from the F16 displays :(( does anyone know why none were used?

I see what everyone meant about the Raptor commentator........I was just waiting for him to say "Lets get ready to rummmmble" during his 30min build up (or at least it felt like it was that long!) (-|
Anyway, MY TURN (I've got lots :ymblushing: )!

It was announced over the tannoy on the Sunday that they couldnt use flares because of 'UK Regulations' , another example of nanny state elf 'n safety X( ~x( X( ~x( X(

I've heard 2 reasons why they don't use flares very often ...

1. If there is significant risk of setting fire to surrounding areas - I assume they mean crops etcs as they deal with anything from the pyros within the airfield.
2. No where to store the flares, there is no where at RIAT suitable for licensing and Waddington the storage area is under the display line.
