I recorded Sky programme called Extreme Machines at random yesterday as it was about flying - and it started by following people who go round the world on their own in a single engine plane - Jet ranger chopper etc then guys who deliver stuff in a Cessna Caravan in Africa to remote airstrips ... then suddenly in the second half they went to Thunder City and showed the Lightnings and of all things the last flying Buccaneers (do you remember those blasting the Torrey Canyon off the Cornish coast )

It was amazing to see them still in the air and being enjoyed by so many (who can afford it ) - there was a bit about Mike 'Beachy' Head the bloke who had the sense to buy them all in the first place - what foresight

The programme showed an ex Russian Mig pilot who had gone over there especially to fly the lightning to see how it compared with his Mig - he was impressed

What I do think is what a crying shame we have such tight regulations over here when we have such brilliant examples of Lightnings which are all but air worthy - bloody nanny state again - let em fly I say

i can think of a few people that apparatus would be useful for Spitfire - and not for blowing their nose either!

No - you are thinking further round the corner - end of that road and right is Boots on the right.
Opposite us is Warrens Bakery and Harbour Book Shop - we are on the first, second & third floors above a shop called Gifts & Goodies on the right - 2 doors down from the Co-op

How long since you've been down SM - they're all closing - the one just down from Boots has gone - Moshulu's gone ... what we do have now is too many trendy olive oil and garlic eating places now .... and gallerys - don't get me onto gallerys

not for a couple of years though. the occasion i was referring to was when we had my friends for Stockholm stay for a couple of weeks - i think she's the most indecisive woman I've ever encountered when it comes to buying shoes.

galleries are ok, but i know what you mean - Ives seemed to be groaning with them, especially given its artistic heritage.

i still think Camborne takes some beating for local shopping though - can't think of any other place that I've been able to park my motorbike outside my branch of the bank!

can't beat Ives for drinking beer looking at the Atlantic though - well, maybe Porthtowan...

Andy's talked about this lots of times. CAA not wanting privately owned supersonic jets in the UK's very busy airspace, no back-up control systems, all hydraulic and fuel lines running very close to the engines and jet pipes... the list goes on really. In SA they have lots of space in which to crash!
