Good man to stay with it so long!

Not impressed by the length of time it took the fire trucks to get to the aircraft though!

Amazing staying with it as you say - I thought he'd never bang out :-o :-o He scooted out pretty quick when those flames appeared though :p But :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: to him.

I was also impressed - yet again - by the speed with which he was under silk after he finally ejected. He was on the ground before his plane stopped moving :D Martin Baker save yet another life :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Not sure this is a fair gripe. [-x :p
If the jet had called a PAN or MAYDAY, then yes they were a tad slow getting there. However, if (as has been mooted) it was pilot error :ymblushing: and he 'simply' binned it on landing, then the trucks got there within about 2 mins - as they should. Notice also how the a/c was returning with stores on it, not sure the fire crew would want to get too close to it with that lot going off :-o , especially as the pilot had banged out and there was no further risk to human life.

Not sure what the current modern seat is capable of SF, but seats of JP & even Vulcan era were capable of deploying the chute within 1.25 secs & there is a lot of action takes place with that time.......

the only bloke I know who professes to equal it is Jiggy!! :p :)) :)) :))

Watched this several times - Intriguing what actually happened ... listening to the sound track its clear there is the usual light/sound delay as the ejection is heard after its seen - but there is clearly engine noise as he descends and goes past the camera position - so it doesn't seem as if he's dead stick - but even if he was surely these things can 'glide' a bit better than that :-o
He seems to come in both too steep and too fast trying to stall some speed off as he approaches - will await the report with interest ... I wonder if the squidgy organic thing in the cockpit, that has no backups, failed in some way :p :D
Edit - Ah - the main youtube clip says 'engine failure' .... still no sign of a controlled glide though :-?

Harriers have the same gliding capability as house brick - it's why they don't allow them to fly over London!!

As M.F. says, Harriers only glide vertically downwards! :-o
