Me no, late father yes. 21 years with Avro's. (Must be why i like Lanc's and Vulc's.....)
Used to be based at Bracebridge Heath during the last fracas!
Spent all of his time there surveying damaged Lancs getting them repaired then after air test he signed them off as fit for flight with RAF.
His fave air test used to be stalling a Lanc.

Moderators seem to be getting grief from TVOC ... and sadly quoted from here too.

Seems that they are NOT able to moderate fully due to limitations. That is sad to learn.. especially when it degenerates into including swear words in title threads :

i have sined they are to busy get the banks out of the shit i apolagise for swearing but that is how i feel and i expect that is how we all feel

It seems that they have limited powers as to what (if anything) they can edit/delete/alter. It seems they need 2 mods to agree on 1 decision to apply any changes. Seems a daft way to run things IMO..

I think the TWO Mods to carry out deletions set-up stems from the days when RUSTY GUSSET was a moderator and often took stuff off without explanation or any chance of recourse. It was put in place to prevent the DICTATORSHIP ways of those days!!!!

2 mods to delete is good as far as I'm concerned and I would have thought there was filter system to prevent offensive words

The only time a single mod would delete a thread is if something very offensive came up and they were the only one on the forum. It is quite likely this will happen at some point or other. In all cases it goes to quarantine first and can be put back later if decided. Having an opinion is fine, but when it gets nasty and offensive action needs to be taken. No matter what you do though, you get flack from one direction or another. You can't win, so you just have to ignore it and do what you think is right.

ATM, a forum glitch means that no one has moderator control over the Website Announcements forum, so we can amend 'that' thread, and the thread owner has failed to respond to repeated requests to change it. An expletive filter would be great, but I'm not sure there is one for that forum.

To me it seems that where there is an axe to grind i.e. an all pervading purpose behind the forums existence - like the Vulcan - then there will be differences of opinion and back biting.

But somewhere like here there is no one over riding purpose - just a general love of aircraft - so there is no conflict :)

I suppose I should add - 'yet' - in my general trusting and naivety ;) :p But I am sure we can be trusted to be pretty much self moderating for the moment - don't you think B-)
