That is superb OR. I just don't know how you have the patience.
When I was a kid, my bedroom ceiling was covered with aeroplanes hanging from cotton threads, and I loved making Airfix models. My favourites were ships of all sizes (Dad was in the Senior Service), and especially liked doing the German ships Dad had seen and some he had taken part in sinking. Anyway, I liked doing the ships of line and I did the Victory. It was a special present from my Grandma, and £5 was a big slice of a pensioner's pension in those days.
Painted all the cannons, and all the rigging was done by twisting multiple lengths of cotton thread depending on thickness of rigging (to look like cable). Bloody thing took a 10 year old boy weeks. All finished and in pride of place on sideboard, Mam decides to dust it. Suffice to say, it looked as though it was the aftermath of the Battle of Trafalgar. I made a new one, but they were kept side by side as a "before and after".

This is how she should look

RLN, thanks. I can only admire those that make the old ships with the rigging etc and those that I read about in the modeling forums who make things as real looking as they can, which is pretty lifelike. I really don't have that much patience and when I found the errors with the refuel probe i.e nothing like the real thing and the smallness of decals you cannot see it was then I stopped.

I might make a bit more effort on the Sentry and that is only because I can photo all the bits close up and make the larger model more accurate.

Thanks Cluny, but I know where all the gash bits are hidden and the lack of sanding skills to rub down filler so it looks smooth :(

Looking good Cluny, is that hand painted or do you use an airbrush?

On the shipping front. I have got myself an airfix Bismarck to build from the docks at portsmouth. If I ever finish the bloody Victor, I'll do it! :D
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!

Well this is my next project that I have started:

Image

Do not know where it is going when finished, might even have to suspend it from the roof. had one issue with the wing tip pods on the RAF ones it needs the existing wing cutting and trying to get them stuck at the right angles etc has been a pain. When I get to work I will start photographing bits of the real thing and see if I can make it more accurate.

Sea Vixen progress ;)
First things first , the ejector seats supplied in the kit are way too small [approx 1:80 scale by my calculations] and had to be replaced with some Aeroclub MB mk4Bs ~x(
Heres a comparison shot .
Image
The rest of the cockpit went together well whilst i was waiting for the seats to arrive despite vague instructions :(
Image

Image
As is now , painted up and with seats ;)

Image
What looks like heavy handed dry brushing is actually the paint coming off as i was fitting the seats , looks alright to me so im going to leave it like that ;)

As usual the quality and fit of parts is superb Tamiya. It goes together like a dream and there is great detail on the underside. I'll probably add some weathering to the underneath at some point but for now I'll leave it sparkly clean!!

This is my current project before I get started on a TSR2 (possiblly!!)

Here are a few pics up to the stage I'm at now, test fitting the sprayed body to the complete chassis....

Right dragging this one back to the top again as my Skyline is now pretty much finished, other than a couple of little final touches and a coat of varnish...

Here are a few pics, then its time to move onto something a bit bigger!!

Cluny, nicely finished Aardvark and good luck with the Sea Vixen hope it goes well.

350W, very nice looking car, I might look at doing one once I have finished my aircraft as I used to make the cars/warships when I were but a lad.

Not much progress on the Sentry been too busy with other tasks, ran out of paint for the bodywork anyway, so waiting for that, the 'smartie' needs more work as I am rubbish at filling and have not quite got the hang of sticking on the etched brass work yet.

I have also aquired a 1/72 Jet Provost 5/Strikemaster, which will be done as per the RAF Cranwell style, I have also ordered some painted 'remove before flight' flags in both 1/72 ( Nimrod) and 1/48 (Typhoon), also I have ordered the etched blanks and external panel detail items for the Nimrod so might leave the Sentry and rework the Nimrod. Also managed to fit the Typhoon intake blanks, so when I get the bits for the diorama that should look neat in its display case.

Anyone built any gulf war pink coloured aircraft? Thinking about doing a Buccaneer and just looking at paint options.....

Anybody got any suggestions or advice as to what to use??

There appears to be much debate on which makes to get, some think the Xtracrylic and Humbrol desert pink are a bit too pink for some purists, most of the main paint suppliers appear to have a version I suppose it is what looks right to you. The paint code is apparently Desert Pink FS 30279 and a few searches have come up with:

And I can tell you that Humbrol 250 "Matt Desert Sand" is a perfect match for FS30279, from http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=145174
