Lots of visitors in today as well. With opening the windows to cool it down in there, I managed to get a photo from outside:

So I get to Bruntingthorpe, fetch the steps from the LPG (cheers Andy!) and set to masking the orange bits. I open the can of orange paint, it's orange. I pour some into a roller tray, still orange. Get up the steps and start painting..........



and it's yellow! In fact, a perfect match for the yellow! So MR. SICKBAG!!!!!! can you change the wish list so the link for the yellow paint now points to the link for the orange paint. We should be able to get some ORANGE paint from the paint shop at Bruntingthorpe.

A frustrating development!

However....

After a good soak with penetrating oil, some brut force and a bit of swearing......



Got an engine nacelle open at last!!

If you look left of centre, you'll see a rusty old square of sheet steel. That IS what the props are bolted to, so no gearboxes









Like everything else, it looks like the engines were lovingly removed. Just need those nice folk in the RAF to give us some old herc engines

No progress on the aircraft today, but, after 90 minutes of travelling between the crew hut, David Walton's office and the paint shop (3 times) I did manage to secure our orange paint supply.

Not been much to report this month. It's been decided that she's going into the hangar to be fully repainted and restored to, as close to, factory condition. Which is great news for the aircraft, but, for the time being anyway, has made us a tad redundant. All I've been doing is tidying our kit away and tieing anything down that would move about whilst she's on the move. We've been tasked with maintaining her once she's out (She'll never go back in), working on the inside condition and chasing down any leads on engines and ground equipment.

It's advanced the project, about, two years

I was thinking the same.

Can the Guppy actually be towed safely at the moment as well? I thought there was some issue with the nosewheel - hence why you are on the lookout for a replacement.

We wondered about fitting her in, but, when you look close up, she will fit pretty comfortably. The nose gear issue will be resolved with a trolley rig. I've been quoted $1,000 for a new oleo
