I saw it the other year when it did its show for the queen at Riat, pity the rest of the weekend was a washout! As stated no more are to be made, a major upgrade is to be made to the F15 instead. I think the raptor hasn't lived up to the expectations, this coupled against its costs has put it on the back burners. To be fair a lot say the Typhoon is a more capable aircraft, and a lot cheaper to produce.

Don't know Dickon, but I have heard it said the Typhoon has proved it can do what it is supposed to. :ymapplause:

so we won't be buying any more of them, just buying F22's so we 'keep in with the whitehouse'..........
don't worry about the additional expense, we will just cancel what ever it is our troops need to stay alive in theater.

Hello Cynical :)

I doubt very much that we would go for them, the Typhoon has shown itself to be a very capable aircraft (some say overall it's superier to the F-22)

Ahhh, YOU are applying 'common sense' to the situation............

Very informative, I do wonder though, all the "J" turns etc, how would they really fair in a dogfight? Air to Air is now decided with stand off weapons, over the horizon warfare etc. A capable pilot would, I am sure have done his/hers homework prior to any engagement with their foe.

Just my thoughts :) Jim

They do indeed do their homework.........the a/c can be identified electronically thus they can identify the capabilities and what weapons they carry.
