I'm currently a rigger at cottesmore working on depth maintenance on harriers
however i've been involved with 494 for 4 years and have worked on bringing her back to life (again) for an aircraft that is over 40 years old with over 30 years dormant she's fared suprisingly well, and now things are being freed up a lot of the systems are working again here's a quick rundown of what's working
AC Power, DC Power, Nose wheel steering, wing fold (almost snapped cables need fixing) Port Engine, Hook, RAT , U|C retractions, Canopy Motors, Aileron Changed, Flap damage fixed and a full repaint (twice)
doesn't sound a lot but if you add 3x engine removals (for various reasons) and the fact that the prep to remove the stbd engine alone took 12 months, that's why it takes time
currently the main things holding up taxing are brake functional, snapped control cables and sorting out the failure to light up of the stbd engine
just this weekend we re-attached the stbd external fuel tank and messed around with loading weapons and did the first regular anti det ground run for the port engine
So there's still plenty to do and anyone especially with small hands to get to the control cables is welcome to join in
