last night i watched the first one-hour episode of a three-part BBC Four series, "The Secret Life of the Airport" on iPlayer - it's EXCELLENT!

episode one, "Preparing for Takeoff", covers the history of civil aviation right from the beginning - episode one looks at at the development of airports.

episodes two and three are: "Joining the Jet Set" and "The Final Approach"
