Fantastic day today! Nice weather (Can't say that very often!) LOADS of visitors, including 4 fly ins and a start made on the main livery.

I know it's a slightly different shade to the original, but, it was free and I think it looks really good.

If the 135 used 707 nose gear, then it would fit. If it's what was on the Stratocruiser, then it wouldn't. I've been doing some research but I can't find anything that says.

This blue we've been given is decent "one coat" stuff. I did that panel with about 2-3 tablespoons of paint. It's a mammoth job, but, I reckon 10L of each colour would be more than enough. Then we'd like to lacquer it all to preserve it, so, a few cans of that as well.

I guess that depends on the weather. I could have done a lot more today but we had so many visitors, I spent a lot of time in the cockpit. What I'd like, is to get the nose section completely finished (all colours) by CWJ at the end of May. Hopefully, get it ALL done by the end of the summer.

But we all know what the Brunty weather is like!

Got half way round the front with the blue paint today, it's looking really good!

Ian has made a start on washing the rest of the livery whilst I follow him with the paint.

And that's about it for today. I'm off now til easter sunday. I'll try and get the others to update next week.

I stumbled across this rather sad looking Guppy today during a trip to Bournemouth Airport, it looks like its being scrapped. Would this aircraft have anything that would be of use towards the restoration of the Super Guppy?

Gregg (Bubbles) took me to a static run of the Comet and told one of the crew chiefs that I'd like to volunteer at Bruntingthorpe. I was welcomed with open arms. About 6 months later I made enquiries about the plans for the guppy. Turns out there weren't any so I put my name forward........

The rest is history.


Wedgy: I have already been on to our webmaster about that. He must be really busy because he usually updates things straight away. It would seem that B&Q have stopped selling paint and painting tools online. I can send you updated links if you're feeling generous
