Well, well, well, Rusty Gusset hands over to ZERO ONE! My TVOC/VTTSC membership is about to expire, just given me the best reason in the world not to renew it!!!!!!! Having read through all of S.M.s posts above and remembered all of those underhand goings on, I shall spend the money on something more useful!

When you hear that people are walking away from something as HUGE as XH558 due to the running of the 'business' (I use the word rather loosely) and sitting here thinking about all those empty promises that we, as club members have been given IN WRITING on joining said 'club' (again, i use the word loosley), its hardly surprising that threads such as the one entitled something like 'WOW i'm the only one here' that I noticed the other day are now being posted.....

And I'm amazed it's taken this long for it to appear if I'm honest! I have been on that forum alone a few times, quite a while ago actually.

And now Jjb has taken over where hcdp has left off, well, I think more feet will do the talking!!!

one thing that has always amused me about the club is that it states ' exclusive access to 558 & her crew' to the best of my knowledge no-one has ever asked the crew.......

You like his new name then - thought it suited him ;)

Edited to say - these names are purely there for my benefit and are in no reflection a true representative of any person living or dead. They are characters from my imagination. Any people, living, that you deem to link to these names you do so at your discretion :p

Remember this isn't about people it's about 558. Despite annoyances and inadequacies in the club & trust (putting it mildly), I'm personally putting that to one side all the time that there is still hope of keeping 558 in the air. Remember there are a lot of very good people working on the project - mainly those at the coal face.

sadly,I'm inclined to agree with XP although my membership renewal is a little way away yet.

there doesn't seem to be the same "come on chaps, let's dig deep" fervour this time as before; maybe others feel the same way as i do - that BEFORE the culmination of TFs, we were all prepared to give 558 the best chance.

unfortunately though, since then, she has completed TFs, obtained her PtoF and appeared at airshows - yet we still seem to be in the same old dung heap as before. TVOC have played their trump card and 558 should be in a position to stand on her own two (three!) feet.

we gave TVOC and 558 the best chance to prove their 'promises' and 'theories' on sponsorship by getting her to displays. there is little more that we Club members can do this time i fear - we simply can't afford it again.

Until it's clear that 'all is lost' I won't be giving up. I'm not going to throw large amounts of cash at the project, but I will continue as before.

I wish the financial position was made clearer, though. We're told on the one hand that they have run out of money, but they continue with costly engine changes (OK maybe they had no choice) and talk of the club event next year, etc etc. There's a new face on the wall of fame, which leads me to assume that someone else has put up £50K or more, but when I ask, no information is forthcoming. And there also doesn't seem to have been the usual 'we're broke - again' crisis appeal. I'm not really sure what to believe. Anyway, I'm prepared to give Rusty's replacement a fair chance.

I'm the same MrTim - "...fat lady..." and all that. even so, it wouldn't surprise me if, as has always been the case before, it's left until the 11th hour before the "HELP - we're sinking!" plea is heard.

as far as Rusty's replacement is concerned - do we have any indication as yet as to it might be? whilst Rusty's departure will certainly assist 558's future, i remain convinced that other changes are desperately needed too before the Management Team is in a position to turn this project into a streamlined, well-organised and effective organisation with a future.

I believe Nicola is the lady that took over the treasury of the club not Rustys position within VTST

We can discuss and complain etc till we are blue in the face but the sad fact is we are powerless to effect any changes, also in my opinion the trustees are as inept as the current management, despite being aware of the appalling way T.V.O.C. carry out their business they fail to step in and make the much needed changes.

This is what we've been saying for a long time....

I'm hoping that the changes that have been 'coming' for a while DO change things. EddieF has been saying that things are changing but couldn't happen immediately. What exactly these are I have no idea, but I'm still hoping that these come into fruition and are positive for our Delta Lady.

I do still have my doubts because I do know things that have been happening, and how things have been run. But, I'm more of a 'glass half full' person and tend to bash down the negative thoughts and boost up the positive ones (when I can of course). But, sometimes with this venture, it's rather difficult to stay positive I must admit :ymblushing:

There is no replacement yet as far as I am aware. Nicola is just club treasurer.

Mr Tim it was at end of August which is why I didn't post for 3 weeks because it is so petty & why I have decided not to be involved any more.

Felix I don't think we should go there & open that particular can of worms. I am well aware there is ill feeling & I have kept my own council & intend to continue to do so.

I would put it down to the resentment held for Mr Thomas within the Bruntingthorpe set up.

Jealousy more than anything I would have said. Although DT is a 'mere mortal' I doubt anyone here uses those 2 words when referring to or describing the 'God' himself (excluding Mrs DT of course :p ) :ymblushing:
At the end of the day, DT is THE person VTST NEEDED. DT doesn't NEED them. Because of this fact they weren't in control, and Control is something they ALWAYS have to have isn't it! We wanted tshirts to raise awareness of something THEY'VE been working on for 15 years; they said NO and then what did they do? ~x(

I'd not realised that this ill feeling existed at Brunty. I actually thought it was a bit tongue-in-cheek until Pam replied. I presume we're talking about specific minority, rather that the entire outfit. I hope so anyway.

This subject is something I've sat and watched from here for a while, and then I started asking questions, and got threads deleted, and someone took me under their wing (no pun intended) and explained a few things to me, mainly the set up at Brunty, the trust, the club, the charity, VOC, where Marshalls fit in, who was who and where they fitted in etc, and answered an awful lot of questions for me, questions a single mum of 3 "shouldn't be asking" I was told by VTST, and which I didn't need to know the answers to as I am only a club member.

Too much pushing and delving could have an adverse affect on the cause and I for one wouldn't want that on my mind [-x ..........

A few nudges along the way and the ruffling of feathers.........

no-one can deny that 558's return to flight was a truly monumental achievement, but sadly TVOC appear to believe their own 'hype' that, because they made her fly, they are utterly wonderful and super-fantastic at everything. many who become involved with the goings-on at Brunty seem to instantly fall ill with this same "Bruntingthorpe Disease"

of course this year was always going to be a huge learning curve, but as good a saying as that is, the clue should really be in the word "learning". very little seems to have been learned unfortunately.

from the word go, 558/TVOC has been blessed with an incredible amount of expertise and goodwill at TVOC's fingertips but, rather than embracing it, it is abundantly clear that TVOC consistently fight against it with a "we're so wonderful and we know best" attitude.

in my experience, the measure of a good manager/management team, is one that knows what their/its limitations are and when to ask for help and advice from those who are more qualified and experienced.

if only...

I don't think it is the place for it. Was it Wedgy's intention to create a "bitch about TVOC" forum as it seems to be turning into. I hated the other forum when people were bitching about things both the anti and the pro camps and was thinking the other day how nice there isn't any of that on here. But here we go again. I couldn't give 2 hoots whether this person said this and it was a lie or that person had a go at such and such. I just want to be able to chat with people with a similar interest and not feel like I should slit my wrists or join a revolution!!
