Having just read Spitfires thread about the Bristol Britannia been the first A/C he flew in I wondered what was yours....

I never flew before I joined the RAF so mine was a HS Andover as an experience flight

Monarch DC10 ... to Italy.

Mid-Late 80s I think - I was in my early teens. Papa-Wedgy may be able to clarify

Didnt do too much flying after that, so a flight on Concorde was soon after

Did a lot of flying due to my job ... no aircraft to write home about though

Mine was in Auster J-1N Alpha G-AJEI, at skengness aerodrome probably late 80s, with my dad

I was probably 6 or 7.

Next flight was a 737 (I think) from Luton to Majorca in 1992. Then there was a long gap before I went on a 747 to New york (JFK) in 2004.

My first flight was in a Dragon Rapide round Blackpool Tower in the mid 60s. Then I didn't fly until I went to Iran in 1969 in a Super VC10 - still got the ticket stub.

First time off the ground was in a glider some when around 1994.

First 'proper' flight was in a Monarch Airbus (I think) to Malaga in 1998.

Well it wasn't technically my first time off the ground in that my Dad paid a lot of money, in those days, for us both to go up in a Westland Whirlwind chopper from a local fete when I was 8. (1960)

I remember hovering over a local cricket match causing much consternation to the players

Too young at the time to remember, but my Dad told
me my first flight was on a Northeast Airlines DC-3
from Bangor to Boston then return three days later.
That was probably around 1953.

He also told me I was "unimpressed".

Chipmunk at RAF St Mawgan (Summer Camp ATC) Kirby Cadet Glider (Old Sarum ATC)

Followed by.. VC10, Andover, Hercules, Puma, Wessex, Lynx and a noisey Wokka, BAC 111, Trident. Also been in a Nimrod Stimulator at St Mawgan.. short flight, crashed and burned !!!

Been AEF in a Cessna 172 and a tutor since then - for those that haven't done aeros they are awesome especially with the visibility of the tutor

My first flight was in a Virgin Atlantic 747-200 to Florida in 92

My first [and only so far] at the controls was in a Cessna 152 at Turweston in 2000 for 18th B-)

Mine was a glider.My first powered one was a Chipmunk from Newton closely followed by a Piper and then an open cockpit glider out of Scampton in the fog.

I have also flown in an Apache (and done an emergency landing at Duxford in it) and hung out of Cessna taking aerial photos over Wales. I have also flown in loads of microlights, light aircraft, helicopters, auto gyros and been parachuting etc.

Mine was a Schools Abroad charter to go skiing in December '83. No idea on the airline, but it was a 737! Must have a photo somewhere: probably in an album lurking in Mum and Dad's loft along with the rest of the rubbish they think should now be insulating my house!

Unfortunately I cant remember what type of plane it actually was, but my first ever flight was a half hr flying lesson from Shobdon airfield in Herefordshire, a birthday present from my brother and I was in my 20's..... (a long time ago

now) . To me it was like getting into your car with some wings attached! as my first ever flight it was a bit of a thrill actually being allowed to take off myself

Ah Shobdon - remember it well - my wife and I went to school in Leominster just up the road from there - I've flown from there a couple of times - they used to have an annual air display when we were kids - memories eh!

I wasn't at all interested in what it was as long as I got there in one piece, but it took me from Manchester to Corfu when I was 19! :ymblushing:

I've done Hunter simulator (and Hawk) at RAF Brawdy and Jagaur at RAF Coltishall. And I didn't crash (number of take offs = number of landings). Does that count? :ymblushing:

done Hunter, lancaster, chipmunk, bulldog, belfast, devon, dove, comet, andover, lightning, hawk, jaguar, jetstream, dominie, jetprovost, BAE 146, VC10, Tristar, Hercules J & K, Whirlwind, Seaking, Chinook, and Civvy aircraft including Concorde as well .

Flight Sims Jaguar, Hawk, Jetsream, Dominie, Concorde, 747, Tristar, VC10, BAE 146, Hercules J.

I've done an RAF type that you haven't - Puma. 8-}

Would swap it for a Lightning trip anyday though.

Missed my Whirlwind trip due to the Fastnet dissaster back in 1979.
