Seeing as everyone actually knows who you are talking about bubbs, we might as well get a few things straight! VTST not TVOC to start with. And no, not slagging the forum off at all, just the way CERTAIN PEOPLE have been handling things OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME!!!! Not listening, not communicating. BUT, people ARE getting off their arses and DOING things that you have no frigging idea about. Just because people dont ring you up and say HEY I'm DOING THIS or HEY DID YOU KNOW... He/She is doing so and so ..... doesn't mean people aren't doing things or being proactive for the cause.

So, I think before you start posting derogatory posts which blatantly show up people on an open forum, even when you think you're not 'naming and shaming' someone, please put some serious thought into it!!!

I personally think the world of my forum family. Ok some people on here I have no time for. Others I used to have no time for. But, I have swallowed my pride, and have gone personally to these people and spoken to then in person and hashed out a few things, and now we understand each others concerns over the past, and the misunderstandings over posts because lots of things can be misconstrued purely by being read from the other side of a computer screen. You have no inclination of emotion that is put into the post at all.

I've wrongly 'labelled' people on here, purely because I've misjudged their posts because of the way they've been translated on my side of the computer screen. In person, through conversation, the reality is that we're fighting for the same cause, we just have totally different ideas. Pure and simple. No right and wrong. Just different. With a HELL of a lot of passion for the cause thrown in for good measure.

And i'm off the soap box.

So just out of interest could you fill me in who you think im talking about ? I havent named names simply because i dont want to get draggged into a all out slagging match, lifes too short and im to old for that shit, BUt if my post has struck a chord with you then ask your self why?

I have no idea who has done what to help the cause but i can tell you one thing that at this late in the day going over the same old ground wont change a thing, to put it bluntly you would have to be blind to not see some of the changes in attitude recently or is it simply people refuse to see it? Im not blind nor stupid i know the head sheads have ballsed up along the way and will probably continue to do so, but the grim reality is we are facing what is possibly 558's last flight. Bitching and moaning about it aint gonna do sod all to help her so instead of that how about spending a few hours coming up with ways to save 558

And as for passion? yup im passionate allright, i have waited 10 years since i tucked her away in the hangar at Brunty to see her fly so theres very few out there who are more passionate about her than me.

Please excuse the quality of this post as frankly im rat arsed ok (1/2 bottle of whiskey + 8 beers)

thank you and good night xx :D

Pm'd Paul this am and asked why?

He responded to the effect that as Denis Parker was now to be in charge of the website he (Paul) felt that he would not be able to work with him. (he was less polite than what i have written here but I don't want to get dragged into any litigation etc. :)

Knowing how Denis feels towards the Forum in particular I am not happy with the Trusts choice of webmaster.

Who knows how this will end up.

i do hope that the forum keeps going - it is the core of 558's life blood

even so, they now have a stark choice - pay more (a LOT more!) to retain what they already have, albeit hosted by A N Other.............

or, keep the costs the same and close the forum, merely to keep a web presence going

the jury's still out me finks!

If the forum goes it will be a real shame. Although I have only met a few people I think I have made some "cyber friends" through the forum, and it did lead to this one being formed. If it goes then I think 558 will end up a museum piece very soon as the forumeers won't have anywhere to formulate their money raising schemes, and of all the members of TVOC, the forumeers are the most passionate. It would be a lot different if there was only the web site to trawl through. :(

It will be ashame if the forum closes [although I rarely post post there now] - and IF it does the management won't realise what they will have lost until it's too late.............

Having read what SM wrote on the other forum about Michael Trotter and his comments about the Club and the forumeers etc, I'm sure he would have something to say about the forum closing surely. If the prospect of it closing and Denis's views on the forum are put to him, he'll have an opinion and an authority on it? Ok, it could have an adverse effect but hey, there's a risk with everything in life!

I know that if we lose that forum, we lose an awful lot of support, fundraising, contacts and information being past from member to member. People have already lost faith in the projet. That would just be the last straw. :(

The lack of input to the forum from TVOC had me Thinking a long time ago that the discussions on there would always go round in circles .I read the post from Paul And my immediate thought was this is the straw that is going to finish the forum .I hope it isn't as without a discussion area on that site the fund raising will drop of or die out as there will be no central place for ideas to be passed around.Where then will that leave the other woman in our lives either mothballed in the hanger at Brunty only seen on web-cams or by visitors on a Sunday or flown out to some museum to stream her chute on to short a runway never to fly again .The way I have seen it over the past few years is that they have needed the passion of those on that forum to raise funds ,OH yes and turn to for more money on what was looking like a regular basis .At the end of the day if the forum closes then they may have returned XH558 to the people for 1 season .But without the ideas being thrown around on there and passed on or people organizing forum or public events there will be no Vulcan and then it will really become a 1 aircraft airline only that big bird won't fly.

As Nick said earlier in this thread Things can and are misread .Passion doesn't come through ,Well my friends I sure hope mine does I may no longer be part of the forum family over there but after 40 years of knowing the Vulcan And seeing 558 lift off from Leuchars live in 1992 for the last time with that farewell message in her bomb bay ,it truly broke my heart to think something as important to this country's recent history was on its way to the breaker.
What it boils down to if They allow that forum to be closed then they have in my view probably wasted a lot of peoples time working so dam hard to get her back to flight and a lot of money .Just my personal opinion

Re the Forum..

I echo Pams thoughts, insomuch that if they close it - they will be cutting a majory artery in the survival of 558. The Forum members try thier utmost to provide funding ideas. Amid the daft banter... there is a sense of belief and hope. A band of brothers with ONE common love - that being the survival of 558.

Many friendships have been struck up on there and it feels like a family concern. If it folds, it will be a very sad day. The next few months should be interesting as 'they' implement these slight changes. If Denis had his way, he would pull the plug tommorrow methinks. A slight change has already been personally observed, ie lack of postings from a few stalwarts ;)

Not going to happen old son, remember I resigned as moderator early November, was lured back but did not get involved.. until my access was removed.. and I never ever deleted any threads or posts....

question?

Where have I ever said that I want to close the forum, I can't remember ever writing this down.

As far as I was concerned, there never was any plans to close the forum, after all it was me who originally talked Dr Robert into having a guest book on the website which metamorphosised into the forum.. don't know where this story came from, certainly not me?

Right I think that Denis's post should be the last on this thread (except for me saying that this is should be the last post on this thread).

We are ALL agreed that the Forum ain't for closing.

That's it topic CLOSED.
