I've just added a new page in the gallery section with a selection of photos that I took both in and out of the Super Guppy yesterday, there is a link at the bottom of the gallery page otherwise this link will take you straight to the page:
http://www.superguppy.co.uk/images/gall ... report.htm

all the pictures are clickable images which will enlarge and if you want to see what the buttons and switches on the electrical panels do zoom up further using the view and zoom facility on your toolbar

edit - just found that if you click directly onto the image then it zooms up without using the toolbar facility, click again and it drops back to the full page size

further edit: I've put a May update on the Guppy site - link:

OK, should be going in pretty soon. Still debating whether or not some trees along the taxiway will need removing.

22.06.10

Sorry about the lack of info lately. Rest assured things are happening, just, at Brunty speed ;)

A new nose leg has been sourced and the GJD lads (Of VC10 wrecking fame) have offered to fit it, as soon as they have people available. The hangar is in a bit of a mess, but, she will still be going in. The owners of the airfield and their crew are very busy with other things at the minute. Couple that with the fact that I have taken more work on and you will see why things have slowed down a bit.

The need for more crew is now urgent. With me taking more work on, Gregg dropping off the planet and Ian getting his teeth into the Mystere, we are pretty short handed. If you fancy helping out, please, let me know

Form an orderly queue by the phone box, all interviews will be conducted from within the phone box! The plan is to interview all candidates at the same time!

Cheers for the update Gaz.

I was thinking it had been a while since we last heard anything. Great news on the nose leg. With that fitted, I assume then it is safe to tow it to the hangar. I do remember from the last time I looked around it, there was rather a lot of daylight coming in through the 'break point' in the fuselage for loading in cargo. Is this likely to be fixed when the guppy goes in? or is it a basically too much to repair now, having sat like it for years?

Keep up the hard work.

The aim is, Garry, for EVERYTHING to be fixed by the time it comes out. I have a feeling the hinge on the cargo door is damaged beyond repair, but, the powers that be, seem to think they can repair anything

A bit of hot spanner and a big hammer - (and enough money and time) - you CAN pretty much fix anything =)) =))
If he says he can fix it - then who are we to argue - it'll be nice to see the nose opening B-)

As a matter of interest, has anyone ever dared open the front end since it's been at Brunty? Think I can probably guess the answer... :D

And do any photos exist of it landing there?

It WAS opened for Chris Barrie, a few years ago. That's what caused the damage. I know Andy (320psi) has some photos from the day it arrived

Yes I remember the opening for MAD Chris Barrie, surprised he didn't want to take it for a trundle up the runway behind a tug!

That episode was on TV a few weeks back. I wondered if that was what broke it.

We're a bit in limbo at the minute. It is still supposed to be going in the hangar, but, the hangar is still full of building materials.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that it will ever go in and we're going to have lost 3 months of nice weather when we could have got a lot done. It's pointless us painting her though because IF she does go in, they'll be
stripping it all off again.

I will be near Bruntingthorpe on Sunday and fancied a visit.

Thanks

The collection is open every Sunday, from 10:00. I think it's £4 to get in

Well, it's big enough. You should be able to limbo under it without too much agony. :p

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

I won't be (SWMBO likes me home on a Sunday at the moment because I'm working 6 days for the time being) but she'll be open for viewing
