Well one Wren Turbine with self start is about £1600 Wren
The Radio gear - if it's all top notch and bells & whistles - Transmitter/Receiver/servos/gyros/turbine controls £500 to £1000
The model - if its scratch built - we are probably talking carbon fibre etc - another £1000

Plus add ons, upgrades and bling ..... upwards of £4grand in total I would think.....

Then there's the skill to fly it = priceless :)) :ymapplause: As I've alluded in other threads the speed is the killer - you have to have lightning fast reactions - when its flying towards you left is right and right is left - when its flying towards you upside down left and right are now back to normal but down is up and up is down ...... doing 95+ MPH ...... one wrong move and its an expensive day out.... =))
And you can't FEEL anything like an on board pilot - no G - no stall warning - no anything .. it's all experience B-)
Plus at those speeds it's VERY easy to get out of sight or out of radio range - then you're in trouble :ymblushing:

Holy schmoly...... how good is that. (Music was good too... ;) )

With all these highly detailed RC planes around.. one begins to wonder what is real and what is a model on UTube nowadays. Some can honestly be mistaken for the real thing.
Look Mummy.. there's an aeroplane up in the sky.....

I just can't believe the detail that goes into these models... After investing that kind of money into one I think I would be scared to fly it..

aha I would NEVER attempt to fly it, I have a big enough problem with the up & down arrows on my keyboard =))

but must admit these modles are something else..............

Well you've all got flight simulators - so try doing circuits and bumps from the tower view only ... and no sneaking into the cockpit view :)) That's very similar to flying RC models ;)

And not as expensive when you crash either ;)

Which is why I use a model based simulator called Phoenix
This allows you to connect your own radio transmitter to the computer and 'fly' the models with your own radio set up ;)
This has proved invaluable in learning to fly rotary wing for as has been alluded its very expensive when you crash them for real - with Phoenix I can practice in real time by programming my own models characteristics into the computer :)

A lovely bit of kit :p :D

Now thats clever.. a good way to learn. I assume the model characteristics are pretty much as a real model would be ?

Virtually identical - there's so much you can alter in the physics engine that you can get nearly every characteristic you want - you can even upload images of your own model to make the computer model look identical to your own :D
