And now for something a little different.... As in its not a an aircraft but I thought you might like to see it anyways...!! Its a Tamiya 1/24 NISMO R34 GTR Z-Tune. As usual the quality and fit of parts is superb Tamiya. It goes together like a dream and there is great detail on the underside. I'll probably add some weathering to the underneath at some point but for now I'll leave it sparkly clean!!

This is my current project before I get started on a TSR2 (possiblly!!)

Here are a few pics up to the stage I'm at now, test fitting the sprayed body to the complete chassis....

Well - picking up on your irony - of course the Airfix one is better than any unavailable kit ;)

However IF I ever come across a Trumpeter on ebay or similar I would take it - IMHO its head and shoulders above Airfix in moulding detail - better part fit overall (though there may be some issues they are not as noticeable as Airfix) - nice extras like rubber hoses for the engine firewall - drop landing lights - better 'perspex' canopy mouldings (look how clear they are in the pic below ;) )

Its brilliant Image

Now there's the thing ... on ebay from China/Hong Kong at the moment ..........

China - Buy it now 'free' postage

OR much cheaper - but take a look at the postage :-o :-o :-o conning git :p

Hong Kong - Buy it now with postage

I actually contacted him and asked why the postage was so high - in very broken English I got a dismissive reply saying basically that's the way it is take it or reave it ;)

So we're talking 80 sovs - not good :(( :((

Before I go PING, does anybody have any idea as to whether it's a good kit, or is it one of those nightmares with respect to gap filling?

The Revel Victor is a complete and utter total Bast*rd of a kit. The fuselage doesn't fit properly, the wings have gaps you could drive a car through, intakes are a mess..the list goes on and on!

if anybody gives you this kit then they clearly hate you with a passion.

Good job i haven't ordered it yet then :-o
Was going to start putting the transfers on the Cranberry this morning but plans changed when the mythical Humbrol 168 arrived in the post . So on with more painting then [it has made it darker as it should be just doesn't look like it has in the pics] ;)

Only 1 coat so far and needs at least 2 more , good job the panel line are excessivly engraved ;)

Nearly finished the Sea Fury by putting the decals on and the only bit of weathering im doing on this one [abit of exhaust staining by dry brushing some flat brown/bronze/flat black mix , doesn't really show up well in the pics as its very subtle] , just needs another coat of satin vanish to seal the decals in ;)

B-)

Oh to answer ORs question about the wingtips on the Canberra , it is an Airfixism .
There are clear parts to make the correct wing shape but im leaving them till last [as with all clear parts if i can help it] because il only end getting paint on them ;)

Well I have finally decided that the Nimrod is done, having just redone the wire ariels. Ordered the Typhoon and extra bits and will take my time and follow the experts and take pictures throughout the process.

Image

Thanks Cluny, re Wingtips, I do wonder about the model manufacturers sometime as they appear to miss obvious things, like the Typhoon has a missile warner sticking out the back above the brake chute door and they have 4 pylons on each wing, yet a lot of models don't have them, and the aircraft number that don't exist on my Die Cast chinook.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Image

According to the instructions, yes! "Hellcat Blue"

But I'm not sure about it either.

I think it looks good though. I guess that's all that matters
