Isn't it £21 per year? £24 is for the first year and includes the additional £3 for admin / starter pack (or something like that!).

The club committee is aiming to add more value to club membership as of 2010 - work in progress... ;) When you consider the demographic of the majority of the membership, it becomes a tricky task to remain inclusive!

£24 = £2 per month .............. I can't believe people have an issue with that - and NOT wanting to renew membership !!

Perhaps if those of us who wanted a renewal offered to pay the additional £3:00, maybe some admin could be urged to act upon our renewals! :-o

I belong to the BMFA - and have done for many many years

http://www.bmfa.org/about/whatwedo.html

The BMFA is the National Governing Body for the sport of model flying. Its aims are to promote, protect, organise and encourage model flying within the UK. Typically there are around 780 affiliated clubs and a combined membership of over 36,000 members, all of whom have entered a partnership to ensure that model fliers have a voice and their rights are recognised by the authorities.

For my £29 a year I get £10,000,000 third party insurance liability when flying my models

ALL the facilities and back up of the BMFA - see the list on the link

Some really good and regular full colour members magazines sent out to me

A fully printed renewal invitation sent out 3 weeks before renewal - and on which is a new membership card for the coming year - issued every year without fail.

They run a not for profit organisation with many volunteer staff - and they do it very well

My TVOC TVST VTTS or whatever membership lapsed and I'm not renewing it - it gives me nothing of benefit - except access to a forum I don't really like :p

Good answer Spitfire,

My McLaren membership: I get a monthly magazine, discount on their Team clothing line and I was fortunate to be invited to their Technology centre recently.

As you said with the Club, you're allowed access to a poxy forum I don't really want access too. I gave them one chance to cash my cheque back in July and they failed - tough!

Tend to agree with much of the comment made here - I did raise the issue of vfm (that's "value for money" not "vulcan flying machine"!) with Brains MT at the start of the year and suggested, amongst other things, a 'tiered' membership approach with the basic membership fee being reduced and more xpensive options with additional benefits being made available.

My view (4 wot its worth!) is to treat the club subs as a donation towards the old tin triangle and not worry too much about vfm - i mean, i waste far more money each year on govnt taxes of one sort or another and get precious little in return!

The current benefits of VTTS Club Memberships are laid out on the Club pages:

Bi-annual full colour magazine 'The Vulcan' with exclusive articles and photographs
Quarterly Newsletters with the latest updates on plans and activities
Privileged access to Vulcan XH558 and her crew
Membership social events, local and national
Exclusive aviation members visits
Opportunities to work as Valued Volunteers and Education Ambassadors
Access to Club Area on our web site, Including the forums

The committee are keen to expand the Regional representation in 2010, with many events, presentations and talks in the early planning stages.

As a committee member, I am keen to get these issues resolved "once and for all" and I know a planning meeting has been convened in January to sort out these issues.

We should certainly not be losing members through poor admin and certainly not their money if submitted!!!
This concerns me greatly and I shall be taking it up at Committee level with the people involved.

To me, we need a "system" in place that works - simple!!

Regards,
Ian.

PA28 was a great supporter of it and was very instrumental in determining its various features and functions. i think I'm right in saying the Club Committee were behind it too but decided to stick with a common system being investigated by the Trust.

THAT, i believe, is where the problem is - the Trust never came up with the goods! result? Club renewals still in the same ridiculous mess they've been in for some time and a pathetic situation where some received multiple copies of the same thing. X(

all the more reason, i think, for the Club to take a much more prominent at directorial role in how VTS is run! yet again, those paid a salary to do a job have been the only ones in this whole fiasco who've proved themselves incapable of doing the job they're paid to do!

why do they keep getting away with it? why are the Club Committee reading the riot act?

unfortunately i think this one should be removed, and possible shouldnt have every been included.

privileged access to 558? whats that? no access at all to the aircraft :(

when i was at fairford this year.. if you wanted to get a close up look, they were charging you :member or not.

Members should get free access to the aircraft if those situations. They can donate by all means. if it was advertised at the show that members get to visit close up for free, then maybe this would sway people to join.

A VERY good point Bovril, I wonder if the local Trading Standards Department would take up the case?

Hi all.

I have never joined the VTTS club because i give them my time when the flight crew come to Wellesbourne and train on 655.We do work very hard to give them a serviceable aircraft as and when they need it.As for MaPS members, they get free access to 655 on any Saturday that the engineering team are there (which is 50 out of 52 weeks of the year) and are welcome to visit as many times as they wish and they also get free entry to wings and wheels and have a dedicated members day aswell, not bad for £12. :)

Have a good crimbo. :p
