BBMF Hurricane

Postby Mayfly » Fri Oct 02, 2009 7:54 am

Picked this up this link from another forum - as you can imagine it has caused some very lively debate, all I can to say is knowing how BBMF love their aircraft I can't believe its a simple case of merely handing her over - there has to be more to it than that...

http://www.aeroplanemonthly.co.uk/news/BBMF_Hurricane_for_India_news_289838.html

and I would point out that I can't validate the authenticity of the article but it is a reputable aviation mag.

MMmmm it seems there may be a swapsy in the air ... We give them a IIA and they give us a bag of bits that has the potential to be a MK1............

And in return they are giving us an even more valuable machine that will probably give Hawker Restorations Ltd more work and another chance to show the world their mastery of their art.

In reply to someone saying we are losing some of our heritage - this

And the Mk1 coming our way, with BoB kills is what, then? Even more part of our heritage, I'd wager. I'm told it's coming with enough cash to get it into tip-top shape.

If there's lots of CASH involved, and it's CERTAIN that is going to be there to complete the project, then hey - they're the people to do it I guess!

dunno why we don't just send some faded blueprints over to the back-streets of Dehli, and they'll soon knock one up out of a couple of old washing machines and a bedspread ;)
