Supercharger seal that's blown. Hopefully the No4 will be removed to day and new one fitted tomorrow with ground runs.

They are appealing for donations to help with the costs they have incurred even with the help they received from outside sources.

Read that afterwards as well. It would seem they were offered an engine by both parties.
I think that is just brilliant :)

For anyone with tickets for East Kirkby tomorrow there will be no Lancasters flying.

EK are trying to arrange another date.

I have taken the day off ( leaving 3 days for between xmas and new year) to attend this event, but unlike people on other forums, I am not whinging about it, as I will throw a sickie if I have to if the reschedule is another week day, I am prepared to lose a days pay for an event like this :D

The good thing is that my ticket will get me into EK 2 times now, thanks their generosity............ :ymapplause:

note to self, put a donation in the bucket.......... :)

Hi, :)

Just joined what looks like a fab forum. :ymapplause:

Understand that the Kirkby 3 Lancs was cancelled today and a review of appearances was underway.

Can anyone update on this as I`ve been at work (13 hour shift) and I`ve got tickets for 3 Lancs - take two at Kilsby this Sunday :((

Regards

There were hopes FM213 would fly back to Coningsby today but I have seen one report that said they failed to get No 4 started. It turned but wouldn't fire.

Anyone who had ticket for yesterday can use them for the new date [assuming they manage to agree one]. As far as next Sunday goes as long as Vera is flyable I'm sure it will go ahead.

Welcome to the forum.

The new date for cancelled event has been announced as Sunday 14th Sept. Clashes I believe with Duxford but EK have said if you can't make it and they can resell your ticket they will give a face value refund.

Had a drive up to Wickenby today and was surprised that they were letting members of the public park for free on the airfield.Caught the 2 lancs on video and the Airco DH.2 dropping poppys over the airfield.Donated a fiver on the way out then home for roast pork with all the trimmings ;)

It was good tour tho' limited because of the amount of people they had going through, nice to see Vera up close even with all the hangar bits around.

Vera will fly back with the BBMF engine and then it will shipped back, makes sense because it's working well.

I would have made arrangements to go to the Dams today if I had known before but I have got out the habit of rushing around these days!

Although I didn't get to see the 2 Lancs in the flesh, so to speak, I have seen the many videos and photos and can only say what a privilege it has been to witness (even 2nd hand) the sheer spectacle of those 2 old ladies flying together :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

I take my hat off to CWH - and to the professionalism of both sets of crews and engineers. :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Before I start this next bit it is not a criticism - merely a tongue in cheek observation :D

It is funny to see the BBMF crews in Black heavily emroidered jump suits - full military bone domes with face masks and insect like dark visors - and the obligatory white gloves..

Image
Image

Then the CWH crews in short sleeved shirts and standard headsets ... grey hair on display (perhaps a baseball cap) ...no gloves ... casual as you like B-)

Image
Image

I KNOW they are NOT casual and are as professional as the BBMF in all things Lancaster related - but it just makes me smile ... :D :D

Saw her heading home leading PA474 with 1 Spitfires and 1 Hurricanes on each wing just south of Waddington and what a lovely sight, I got all teary.

A mere thank you to all the Canadians who made this tour possible somehow seems so inappropriate despite how heartfelt is meant.

But THANK YOU all the same.

Thank you very much.
The clips at the end were taken from the IPad so didn't turn out quite how I wanted.
There will be much better out there but I agree with Pam. A thank you just didn't seem enough.
A lot of memories have been made from this visit. I am still in awe.

Thanks Sooty ;)

Yes while the guy that runs it is away for a while.

Andrew did a really good job didn't he - it was all 'free hand' driving.

The pics to FB are off my pc but for some reason I can't find how to up load from Imageshack to here since they changed the layout. I'm wondering if it's designed to get everyone to upgrade to the pay for version.
