13/1/13 Update
So, what did we get up to at the weekend at YAM? You may need your earplugs again XPL!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8QzY8TzF1E
We made noise, that's what! The above video was by Brian, the Buccaneer got a through workout as you can see and hear, especially from about 8 minutes on.
The Devon also went walkies again, after a slight reluctance for the starboard engine to start. Given how cold it was yesterday I don't blame it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hrHdzgG4oY
Sorry for the quality, it is filmed off my phone. A new and far better phone has been acquired, so future videos of Lindy and friends should be better.
'But what of Lindy' I hear you cry? We couldn't leave her out, we ran the Artouste and gave all the engines a wet and dry spin, as well as thoroughly exercising the hydraulics. I think our visitors from a certain Tin Triangle were quite impressed. I couldn't film it for you, I was busy keeping the right hand seat warm.
Work also continued on tidying the main u/c bay doors, and I have a couple of jobs lined up for next weekend including finally getting round to servicing our poor Houchin!
You may have noticed by now a distinct lack of photographs. No, I didn't forget my camera. I did however forget its battery! Oh well. Must try harder next week...

Nothing at all. The museum was actually closed on Saturday, and barely open on Sunday. I was in no fit state to attend either day anyhow, as I have since Tuesday been laid up suffering with some sort of cold/flu/plague unpleasantness. The photos above were taken from the warmth and comfort of my car, as I made sure I just happened to be passing on my way back from town on Saturday to look in on the old girl.
Had to go out, as I'd run out of both Doom Bar and Old Peculier! :-o :((

apologies to all Lindy fans, hopefully the weather and the plague will allow for a more thrilling update next weekend! Although that will largely depend on how thrilling you find a houchin overhaul...

Seeing a Houchin being overhauled has got to be better than all the Paint drying you made us watch on the run upto christmas.

For all of you waiting with baited breath for some Houchin action, I can only apologise. Yesterday's snow followed by overnight rain and what sounds like a hurricane blowing outside has closed/swamped/washed away the museum, and put the kibosh on anything happening this weekend. Hey ho...

I would imagine the aircraft are ok, I couldn't get down yesterday to check and I'm away at work now for the week. We had about 4 inches of snow on Friday night/Saturday, Saturday night we had serious rain, so by Sunday morning our car park at home was back under water again! The museum was closed Saturday due to snow and again Sunday, this time due to the site being a bit swamped.

At risk of being accused of forcing you all to watch paint dry again, I thought I'd share a link to a video one of our mob have done covering the repaint from start to finish, condensed into about 5 minutes...

I Really liked that, Mister Blue :ymapplause:

Lots of work for whoever did it, too!

Best part is that it features closeups of
a lot of the "Star Wars" design details
from the Victor...

I used to think the Victor was just kind
of a mish-mash design, but exposure to
many photos, and now these, over the
years has made me a Confirmed Fan :D

Thanks to him what made the vid :ymapplause:

Glad you like it! It's a compilation of a few of our photographic efforts, all put together by Christine in one package.

4/2/13 Update
Another busy one at YAM yesterday, with intended taxying from the Buccaneer and Devon, and engine running from the Nimrod. First up was the Bucc, I've no pictures of this as I was in the back seat! We fired up well, however a minor issue with the hydraulics occurred so we had to shut down without properly demonstrating the old girl sadly. Here she is being put back away though.
Image
The Nimrod was on good form, if a tad quiet...
Image

Image
The Devon taxied next, it started really well having had the benefit of a good plug clean!
Image
Don't worry, Lindy wasn't left out. I've been playing with the panoramic setting on my new phone's camera
Image

Image
Not sure this effort's all that flattering though, to Lindy or John!
Image
We had to wait to do anything as the Devon had borrowed our Houchin (and all its fuel!). But we decided to do an Artouste run late in the day. I caught the startup, however I think I was too close for my phone's microphone's liking!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKwCRQaP ... e=youtu.be
So the Houchin servicing will be next weekend then... =))

Nice try with the camera..... What kind of an excuse is that for not taking any photos of he buccaneer ?..
You had an instrument angel in front of you and a warm comfy cockpit and seat.....

Seriously though nice update many thanks for sharing :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

I didn't want to cart my camera up there and risk smiting it to pieces while climbing the ladder is the official excuse. The truth however, is that I'd left the camera in the Victor and couldn't be arsed to go back for it! :D The cockpit was far from warm; we never got round to shutting the canopy and the blowers are stuck on cold :-SS

10/02/13 Update
Yesterday was best described as cold, windy and wetter than an otter's pocket. Not exactly weather conducive to working on old machinery, but we tried anyway. This was about as bright as it got all day!
Image
Andre had a fuse to attend to in the cockpit...

But here is the update some on here have been waiting for with baited breath, the servicing of the Houchin! This was carried out with the help of Steve and John. Something which gets overlooked frequently is the fact that the ground support equipment needs just as much maintenance and TLC as the jet; without the Houchin and our other gear nothing would run!
Our mighty beast, the Houchin AKA the Random Smoke Generator/ The Green Box ;)
Image
The 4 pot diesel lump, sporting its new fuel and oil filters.
Image
This work should keep it happy for the next year or so. The poor thing does take some hammer! Hopefully we'll have some time to get it under cover and work on making it look tidier soon.
After that job was finished, and with the rain dripping off the jet, we dried up our gear and called it a day.
Image
The call of a nice warm pub was too good to resist! :)
