Missed opportunity!

I agree with both Sooty and RLN it could have been better and more to the point of yes its a fine peice of heritage but it needs lots of money.
But the BBC is the BBC and i'm sure if the funding had been mentioned then it would have been edited out.

Can't even remember hearing anything about the club, or the people who actually donated to keep the aircraft up in the air . It sounded as though Dr P and a few close friends had paid for it all .

Anyone would think it was Dr P`s aircraft and NOT everyones............

and there was no mention of the team of dedicated engineers without whom, there would be no flying Vulcan.

The trust should have insisted that it is mentioned she coast £2,000,000 a year to keep her in the air

To be fair I don't they are in a position to insist on anything, and hopefully the programme will urge members of the public to look up the website there by increasing awareness.

However I do agree with the general tone re supporters, I noticed at Waddington it was stated in the commentary that Dr P took control in 1993 - no mention of David Walton and all he did for 558 and in fact Dr P came on the scene sometime around 1997.

Thanks to BBC's IPlayer I have just seen this short film. I thought it was quite good (for the BBC). It was as much about John Sergeant seeing his dream 'plane 'up close and personal', as it was about the potted history of the Vulcans and XH558 in particular.

I am not surprised that Dr P took the credit. It was sort of deserved after all the snide and occasionally libellous comments directed at him, personally, in the past.

As we all have learned the VTTS Trust , as a body, don't do 'Gratitude'. Or apparently even acknowledge the role played by The Waltons - which is strange.

Perhaps one day XH558's Aircrew/Ground Crew/Seconded Engineers/Volunteers and David Walton will tell their stories. Now I would buy that book/DVD.
