Hello everyone.

Now, it looks like, the weather is improving, we can start to think about the outdoor work once again.

So I'm kicking off our fundraising plea!

http://www.superguppy.co.uk/guppy%20wish%20list.htm

It would seem Screwfix have stopped doing the gift vouchers, so, we have changed the link for B&Q vouchers (as most of the paint comes from there, it seemed sensible).

We don't need much, after the success of the open days last year, we're doing alright.

I reckon £50 will get us through to the end of the nice weather. It'll allow us to get some more of each colour, some new roller sleaves, masking tape and turps.

If anyone wants to donate directly, PM me and I'll give you my paypal details.

Anyone who helps, will be mentioned in dispatches ;)

Thanks a lot!

Sorry, Mister D......

Couldn't resist.

I am not fond of heights, either.

I wish I could be there myself to help out......

Frustrating day today. Beautiful weather, perfect for painting, but had a height issue. No steps to be seen and the lift is stashed in a workshop. Had an offer of some steps from one of the other groups up there, but, nothing to tow them over with. All our tugs/tractors are in the hangar and I forgot my tow rope :ymblushing:

However....

Gregg and I had another go at the jack hydraulics with some success. Managed to get the nose jacks to extend and retract, the tail jack seems to be seized though, so that will require further investigation. I might throw it open to the masses, I don't like tinkering with hydraulics.

I've been helping Matt track down some bits for the Bucc (XX900) and have a potential lead on some inert ordnance and, maybe, pylons to mount it on (Cheers matey ;) )

Every bit helps though.

Stupid question time - these jacks - what are they for, and are they hand or power activated?

It's the stabilizing jacks for when the cargo door is open. The front two have always been hanging down slightly and the rear one is seized down. We need that one to retract so we can raise and work on the nose leg

Thanks. As you say, if you're not happy with hydraulics, it's best left to people who are. Nasty stuff high pressure shrapnel followed by oil.

Too wet to paint today :(

But we have had another platform given to us. She's a beastie too. Needs a good service though (Job for Saturday morning) and one of the stabilisers needs removing and either straightening, or, having a new one fabricated.

Other than that, we watched the old crew room be moved and promptly, collapse!! :)) :))

Funniest thing I've seen in ages!!

So we moved all the aircraft manuals from the pile of rubble, into the hangar.

Hopefully, back up tomorrow PM to get some work done on a Buccaneer :D

Picture doesn't really do it justice. On the other side, one of the glass doors has shattered, the dividing wall inside went, most of the floor fell out and the floor that didn't has some SERIOUS subsidence!

Safe to say, it's pretty fu**ed!

I don't think it would have made a difference. If you'd have done it the proper way, the floor and everything inside, would have just fallen out the bottom

At last, conditions and circumstances allowed us to get some paint on!

We'd have gotten more done, but, in true Brunty style, the battery on the lift died so we gave it a good 3 hour charge.

Been learning more about Buccaneers too ;)
