Very nice guy. Has said that I am free to bother him with any questions we might have. He's also offered a flight manual, service manual and a lot of other literature. He's also agreed to go through their spare parts to see if our missing dials can be replaced.

NASA postmarked package arrived this morning. A plethora of literature to read through!

I've also been sent a NASA funded documentary all about the Guppy and 5 Johnson Space Centre, Super Guppy, Stickers.

All in all, a very nice bundle of stuff from a really nice guy at NASA

That's nice of him. The aviation world is very friendly - hope the literature is of use.
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Just a bit!

Flight manual, service manual, service work cards, engine cutaway diagrams, the list goes on.

I'm sure it's everything we could possibly need

Not for flying, obviously 8-| , but, it has the procedures for taxiing, IF, we ever DO get any engines

That sounds like a lot to read. Should keep you out of mischief for a while. Very generous of the man from NASA. :ymapplause:

With modification, yes. 4 T56's would be a dream come true. We have someone in mind to convert them.

First day back at it today. Had an idea how to mend the rudder, thanks to the "Monster Movers" DVD, courtesy of the kind people at NASA. The cables are connected with a quick release clasp, housed under a retaining plate, around where the join is for the main cargo door.

I'd have bet a mortgage payment that the people who opened the door for Chris Barrie, hadn't reconnected them....

I'd have lost a mortgage payment :(

So it's back to the drawing board there. I've taken photos of all of the holes in all of the panels, in the cockpit. I shall pass them to my new best friend at NASA and see if they can replace them. Doesn't even matter if they don't work, just be nice to fill the holes.

Other than that, I've given the battery a good charge, cleaned up 3 months of litter (There was a lot!!) and did a bit of painting on the new CWJ crew hut.

We did have a visitor though. Think it's a Gazelle, not great at helicopters!

It is indeed an ex military GAZelle, but lord knows how it manages to fly with those awful frozen rotors! :p

I knew you were gonna say that!

Didn't have time to manually change the settings and whenever I used the "P" setting, Error99, still haven't cleaned the contacts on my lense :(

A few minutes simple work and the camera/lens combination would be back to normal, you lazy git! :p :p

I think the Gazelle was probably being flown by Brian Kane the Marketing Manager at Heli Air! ;)

Have had an email from one of the ground crew on the NASA guppy, he thinks the rudder has passed and gotten stuck on the gust lock pin. He's told me how to disengage them, hopefully that should free it. If not, it means another trip in the cherry picker to, and I quote, "free the rudder linkage by unbolting the control rod located on the right side half way up the vertical"

Might send Dickon up there again!
