New Combat Plane

Postby Smudger 565 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 5:35 am

Just seen this on the internet & Oh No :(( :((

Named Taranis, after the Celtic god of thunder, the £142.5 million prototype has been unveiled by the Ministry of Defence.

Dubbed the "pinnacle" of British engineering and aeronautical design, it is the size of a light aircraft and has been equipped with advanced stealth technology making it virtually undetectable.

No place for a pilot :-o :-o Is the future of the RAF X( X( Not impressed I will stick with the Vulcan & TSR 2 as my favourite designs ;) ;)

For rather more than "a while".

"No more manned aircraft for the defence of Britain" was the official government policy when I joined Bristol Siddeley 45 years ago - they haven't managed it yet \:D/

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.
