Hi welcome to IA, why not pop onto the mew members thread and say hello - I notice new members get a better response to their questions if they do.....

There have been a few hints that it won't be too far in the future but no specifics - I don't think they like to advertise it really.

Do you live in the Bruntingthorpe area? as so far most of the deliveries of military a/c have been announced in the morning on the news.

They said on Look North this morning that the Nimrod is going into Elvington today, but they also said it Elvington will be the only museum in the world to boast an operational Nimrod??????????

If the one for B/T is serviceable to taxi I can't see that they wouldn't.

I've also heard that somewhere between the 26th and 28th may be good for a crop of mushrooms... But then another date I'd been told has been and gone, so really no guarantee! :))

I'm guessing that there's quite a lot of kit to strip out of the aircraft prior to their delivery flights, so nothing can be confirmed, plus there are the issues of too many spectators to be considered.

Brilliant video of the Nimrod landing at Brunty .... sad but at least she will 'survive'........

Now on that subject - and being but a bear of very little brain - and living, as I do, so far away from the aircraft 'scene' I would just like to ask a few dumb questions and some kind soul may be able to enlighten me.

Gaz put on Facebook that the Nimrod will be kept as one of 'OUR' taxiable aircraft ...

Now I know about the LPG operation at Brunty -- which seems to be self owned and self financing - and I've seen the Super Guppy being spruced up by public subscription - and I know other aircraft live there and are taxied .....

But how exactly does all this work??

1) Who exactly OWNS the Nimrod now?
2) What organisation will keep it taxiable?
3) I know nothing of the Bruntingthorpe set up - is it a museum as such?
4) Are people employed full time there on aircraft maintenance - or is it ALL volunteers?
5) Are all the aircraft there under one umbrella 'trust' so to speak - or are they all individually owned?
6) Who will sit in the Nimrod office if it is taxied - and who organises that?

Sorry - lots of questions - but todays fly in has just got me thinking how it all works up there .....It's all a bit mystifying for us far flung people .... :ymblushing: :ymblushing:

;) My answers are not exhaustive and I will be happy to bow to those with additional points!

1) Who exactly OWNS the Nimrod now? DAVID WALTON LTD.
2) What organisation will keep it taxiable? THE VOLUNTEERS THAT HE HAS WITHINN C.W.J.
3) I know nothing of the Bruntingthorpe set up - is it a museum as such? YOU CAN VISIT C.W.J. AT THE WEEKEND.
4) Are people employed full time there on aircraft maintenance - or is it ALL volunteers? ALL VOLUNTEERS.
5) Are all the aircraft there under one umbrella 'trust' so to speak - or are they all individually owned? SOME ARE INDIVIDUALLY OWNED.
6) Who will sit in the Nimrod office if it is taxied - and who organises that? EX OR CURRENT NIMROD CREW ORGANISED BY D.W.

The only addition I have is

3)Besides the museum, Bruntingthorpe is now more of an industrial estate - with lots of different companies working out of there.......and the runway is used as a race track and for testing cars - along with the fact there are no airfield services it is why it was not good for 558
