Just so I can plan better.

Swindon is closer and has better transport links

i.e Buses and taxis!!!! (No 54 to Wooton Bassett i seem to remember)

Thanks for that and thanks Pam, but it's looking like it's going to be too expensive (over £60 on the Train!!!)

The sooner I can drive again the better!!!

Yes there is a waiting list.
Yes we have the maximum number that we can handle.

From A to C.

A. Fantastic hopefully every tour will be fully booked.
B. How long is the list?
C. As already asked. SWhat is the maximum number?

Now a few more questions.

Is the maximum number down to the sze of the minibus?
If it is has anyone approached the RAF about them allowing use of a MT coach and MT driver?

Because as one can apprieciate it is as easy for them to sort out passes etc for 50 in one go as it is to sort them out for 15.

A. We hope so
B. Long enough
c. How many people can you fit in a minibus

As much as we would like to be able to use RAF MT in this day and age its not a valid use of the Defence Budget. There would be a cost involved hire of the bus / driver even if it was possible.
As for the passes it is not just a case of giving a list of names in advance. On the day someone with authority has to check the identification of every person and that would take time. Visitors all need to be escorted by a responsible authorised person, that would mean more people on the day.

Hope this answers your questions.

I am sorry you feel my answers are incomplete but as the original email states Toni is dealing with the list.
As far as I know we are booked up till the end of February which is the cut off date for funding.
The minibus is a 15 seater.

Once again someone who spends what little spare time they have trying to help 558 gets a load of greef. Not only does mackrick have a full time job, he is spending his spare time and weekends for the greater good of 558 and its supporters. Some people cant be pleased sadly.

And as for being Ex RAF you should know the difficultly in arranging anything on a RAF camp.

Keep up the good work Mackrick!!

No, not grief just asking for answers that had not been answered other than in an unconstructive way.

Yes, I do understand the problems of arranging anything on a RAF Camp, I also know the support the RAF are giving and have been giving to the Aircraft. (I was party to arranging some of the support, along with someone else upsetting a serving friend of 30 years plus).

I also know that if someone was to speak to the OC MT section that they may be able to find a couple of volunteers to do the necessary driving.
The cost of fuel is negligible with regards to using an MT coach.

Security wise the initial checks could be done before the vistors arrived with regarding names etc. So long as visitors were informed as to what they allowed to take with them and what ID they require.

It is a very sad fact that the free reign most section COs once had has been greatly eroded, every section now a days has to account for costs. Most MT sections these days are civilian - are they at Lyneham MR?

Now you know I felt after roll out 2006 when I opened the hangar on Sundays mind you I took over £40k in first
6 months...... shows what we have been missing out on since she left Bruntingthorpe... they wouldn't let me
do it, when I was access manager.... thanks John and the team for organising things..

When I get home I will have to get my book of names out.
Yes, Lyneham MT is run by civilians.
The boss was (and still is as far as I know), very supportive of the project whilst at Bruntingthorpe.

I am amazed that it took as long as it did before somebody had a whinge! Said whinger has the distinct air of a disgruntled ex-employee looking for any reason to have a go, how sad.

Yes, Ex Employee, but not disgruntled. I went on to a position that paid more than they could pay me.
I enjoyed my time working on the project (as it was then), the sad part was the way we were treated when they decided our jobs were redundant. To be told we could work the months notice or take gardening leave. I chose to work it, only to be informed by my immediate boss that he was informing me that I was not being permitted to actually do my job as he was not allowing me to work on the aircraft or for that matter even in the hangar. (This came from someone who the nearest they had been to an aircraft before The Lady was to wind up an elastic band on a balsa toy).

I still try to drum up support, my work collegues are fed up with hearing about her.

So if you want to read my post as a winge then please do (it is your prerogative). But please also take a look at what I was questioning

Also this said ex-employee did so much with so little only for someone else to jump in and mess it up very quickly.

I would love for nothing more than to win the $*##%! euro millions lottery so I could donate at least enough to get her flying for the whole season this year and secure the ENGINEERS jobs for the next 2 (minimum), but we can all dream.

Lyneham MT is not RAF anymore. While everyone is supportive of 558 on Station there are so many rules in place now that their hands are tied in the level of support that can be given. I have approached the onsite Contractors for suppoort and I am waiting for a formal reply. Things we used to be able to do a few years ago can now no longer be done.

I am not an employee of TVOC so the information I can give is limited and not really my place to say. I have given you what information I felt I can without betraying the trust that people have placed in me.
