XH 558 Woodford flyover ?

Hi all,

In the August edition of Flypast the article on 558 states a planned flight over Woodford airfield on August
The 30th.
This is to mark the maiden flight of VX770 60 years to the day, however, I see no such scheduled flight in the Vulcan 558 Web site, in fact nothing on that date,

Can anyone advise ? I wan't to take the day off and enjoy this wonderful event.

Ray this was in the latest news letter - I missed it as mine had gone into my junk box again!!


On 30th August, we celebrate the first flight of the Avro Vulcan prototype VX770, piloted by none other than the famous Avro test pilot, Wing Commander Roly Falk.

Weather and technical conditions willing, we hope to be airborne that day to mark the occasion. Await further news in upcoming editions of this newsletter for more on our plans.

I take it nobody on here realises 558 is flying today for a private display and appears to be visiting lots of unpublished places en route .

Yep - they said in the Newsletter she was flying at private event. and then doing some training, but if they don't/won't/can't say where then there's noting to get excited about.

They will announce where she has been when she is virtually home.

ONE Private event (19th Aug) and TWO Public events (26th Aug & 27th Aug) at the same place.
May not see her on 8th September as they don't announce what the route will be.

You may lucky for the Clacton display on Thursday Minty, tho' she may transit a little too far North and East for you.
