I quite regularly nip down the lane where this shot was taken, in the hope some positive activity may start. Shame they can't they place her in the hangers for now, there must be loads of room! By the way what lens did you use for the shot?

as she was when we left her, having cleaned what we could, refitted what had been left off (panels and end caps), cleared the pan of rubbish...

I seem to recall that there was evidence on either No 1 or No 4 of a small fire that may have happened in the excess fuel collector tanks in the rear engine door. The collector tanks should be drained after each shut down, the risk of fire increases if they are not drained. Further, both engines sounded pretty awful when they were rotated by hand - like the proverbial bucket of old compressor blades!

With regards moving the old lady. I personally dont think the kit made JCB would be suitable. However Abnormal Load Engineeing (ALE) and others do have the required kit so there should not be any problems.

ALE are currently contracted to the Aircraft carrier group for moving the super blocks around and they had the task of relocating the new control tower at Heathrow from the constuction site also they moved the BA aircraft from the end of the runway after the crash. So these guys are experienced at moving big flying machines.

Last time i was at Woodford there was a Vulcan towing arm in one of the sheds near 603.If the nosegear is up to it then i would use a big'ish tug due to 603 not having any brakes and Woodford not being the flatest of airfields.
