beat me to it, I have been monitoring the Twitter feed on the VTST home page from my mobile (work machine won't let us), but with that timing someone else will now have to post pictures/videos as I won't be around :(

Delayed until 17.00 - Waddo's runway is closed apparently.

Again beaten to it, and I have no idea why the runway is closed as there has been no tannoy about anything.

Update: 558 it carying out some high power runs at the moment and the only tannoy some people have heard is a thunderstorm warning, in fact one guy came into the office and said he had just seen the Vulcan take off, but he was 'only joking'.

Oh and it is chucking it down with rain, good job the Vulcan has allways been a good umbrella for groundcrew.

I have just left the WAVE with 558 doing more engine runs, I was told she needs 3hrs of them? and it was black and looked very stormy!!

I had no idea the runway was closed?????

Blimey, if she needs 3 hours of engine runs she could drive to Yeovilton! :-o

Don't know if that's right, but I suspect it's a time thing to ensure stability.

She could in fact go by road but not sure if High Dyke to the A1 is wide enough!! Her wing tips may end up doing an A380 impersonation :))

I've been to Waddington 3 times today =)) =))

Drove past about 11am on the way to Asda just to see if a) there was any thing happening and b) she was still there :)) :))
So, went shopping, then we got back to the WAVE just after 2pm, chucking it down with rain, stayed to listen to the engine runs.

After the Vulcan shut down Waddington ground asked a question, which I didn't hear properly, but now I've put two and two together it must have been "are you leaving this afternoon" or something similar as word came back "Affirmative".

During the engine runs the BBMF's Chipmunk, and just after him the Spitfire, called up Waddington. They couldn't land at Coningsby because of Thunderstorms and Waddington was "Black" so they eventually, after holding N of Coningsby, went off to land at Cranwell. To quote the Spitfire pilot "It looks a bit grim over there".

So we decided to go to Cranwell to see if we could beat the BBMF Spitfire and Chipmunk (we couldn't =)) =)) ).
So we were going to go home then, but we got as far as Potterhamworth when Vulcan called up Waddington ground so we deliberated for a few minutes and then went back to the WAVE :))
Never seen Mum drive so fast :-o =)) =))
Video later ;) :D (I've left my camera in the car and there's a thunderstorm =)) =)) ).

You must have turned up at the WAVE just after I left at about 2.10 - couldn't be bothered to wait another 3 hrs to see her in the air for 30 seconds :))

I thought it sounded (on the scanner) a bit like MW at the controls (don't know about the rest :( ) but don't hold me to that :D :))

That was how we felt as well :)) :))
Nice to see her take of, but I'm glad we went off elsewhere for a couple of hours :)) :))

I would say MW and Barry as they were down anyway as crew I think, but the co could have changed depending on who is available.
