VC10 ZA148 goes to CAF Newquay

VC10 ZA148 leaves Brize on the 28th of August to join the Classic Air Force's collection at Newquay (St Mawgan).

That will leave only two at Brize..

BTW there was no suggestion in the Press release that ZA148 will be kept flying...

I just hope there isn't a future 'house move' which leaves it as stranded as the Nimrod at Coventry was.

Just got back from some R&R in the west country and while I was there I visited CAF. 148 was sat out on the pan engine less and with the Rat drooped as well. I understand that the RAF are making her safe so that's why they have removed the engines and other items. Once she's moved into CAF's compound she will be opened up to the public. I think CAF have a great opportunity to create a very nice aviation attraction using the very large ex Nimrod hanger which was stuffed with their collection during my visit. I did forget my camera so no picks I'm afraid but good luck to them I say.
