A fair bit done this weekend, curtailed slightly by the snow as the aircrafts skin temp prevented any more painting. Didnt stop us staying over in the caravan though !

we have purchased one 1 of the LPG's vans for our use, its in front of the guppy(sorry gaz) for a few days as it has a puncture, It'll be sorted by wednesday hopefully.

The first of the brake packs. refurbed is ready to go back on the jet, hopefully on saturday.

Places for the 24th march are going nicely, we are up over the 100 mark now.

So much to say and no revealing pictures i'm afraid! all secretish now till after the roll-out !

The group now owns a ex lpg transit reregistered T-Bag1 and its been receiving some tlc from andy king.

Work on the the other brake packs is still under way with us having to have tools made for re +riveting the abrasive petals onto the disc.
The caliper stripped and cleaned, Most of the pistons are ok but a few required new seals

the old rusty discs
Image
Many drill bits and plenty of lube plus about 2 hours work involved in removing the old petals

the first rivet goes in stainless steel and bloody hard to get right !

mean while outside this was happenning, these were taken sunday morning as we'd decided to stay in the caravan !

The Houchin was going back together nicely but a pin hole leak in the fuel tank has delayed this as the tank is repaired.

544 was fed some fuel and is now almost ready!

Lots of the jobs underway were finished off this week

the main paint is finished awaiting the rest of the markings to arrive next weekend.

STAD 1 is now painted and reassembled. Just needs the instruction signs putting back on,and then to fire it up

Brake packs complete and back in the wheels to go back on next weekend, and get 544 off its jacks.

All hydraulics cycled again with no issues so we've caught all of the leaks we were aware of now.

Ladders painted and awaiting finishing touches.

T-Bag one now has a working rotating beacon fitted too

Hopefully next week will see the finishing off of a lot more jobs.

With one week to go until XW544,s rollout day its been a very busy weekend. 544 was taken out of the rub and had her engines run for the first time since september. Suffice to say it didn't all go to plan with the port engine playing up a bit.

The new brakes work a treat, perhaps a little to well as they are a bit tight and rubbing a little, not an uncommon occurance with buccaneer brakes,
Luckily we have an ex RAF fireman on the team and he remembers only to well being called out to chase buccs down the runway with hot brakes after they have been replaced.

Theres still a bit to do with the markings but everything is moving along nicley and its well worth it i can tell you having seen her outside!
