Whilst I build planes from what he calls 'church roof' - he tends to build with 'helium'
More of that phenomenon below
This can be displayed by his latest radio controlled electric ducted fan model of a Hunter ...... complete with scratch built pilot and ejection seat.......

His narrative explanation, which I quote below, shows his ability to lighten - this was a proprietary kit from a company called West Wings - but he didn't like the wood in the kit so changed most of it and look at the weight difference
He always builds to a stunning quality too - and quite naturally with no effort .... pi$$es me right off
This morning I had the pleasure of attaching the transfers - makes it look like a big Airfix kit. The triangular 'ejection seat' sign made me think it would look odd if there wasn't one in there so I researched Martin Baker etc on the internet - found useful details of a hunter seat and, with a bit of licence, cobbled one together. Its probably a bit oversize but fills up the cockpit all the better. The drybrushing looks rather heavy handed until it's seen through the canopy - picks out the edges and details nicely. I've been trying to make a much lightened version of the Hunter and seem to have succeeded - the kit instructions suggest that the ready to fly weight of the prototypes (brushed cobalt motor, 10 sub-C cells) was 1200g, mine (brushless motor, modest LiPo battery) weighs 630g. The weight and thrust compare favourably with my other lightweight EDFs (Canberra, Hawk, Me 262) so I am hopeful that it will fly OK.
