Already have one as 607 variant.. built in 95. Sadly a bit brittle nowadays.

Have 2 new ones to build.. first one will her ladyship!! - that means lopping off the TFR blister :)

Yes I have a 1/72nd one waiting to be built - I will, of course, be making it XH558 too... just waiting for the spirit to move me ;) :p

If you want the proper 200 series jet pipes [the kit has 300 series jet pipes] when modeling 558 , these guys do a conversion kit for it [1/72 post war RAF RN section] ;)

Thanks for the link :)

The ugly horizontal jointing seam is still evident I see. I guess much sanding, filler/buffing and TLC will be required prior to painting. On a point of detail.... don't use the 558 City of Lincoln transfer - it's the wrong colour..( use the 607 one - with the white background).
NB - DO NOT forget to weight the nose section before you join the 2 halves !!! ;)

Just to update this - found a link to the traits of this kit :

:D

Updated 20 Jan: (Seems I can not add to the thread until it is replied to... odd) Hey Ho

Have just recieved the B2 Detail set. There's a lot in there... some worthy, some not. Cockpit detail for instance - Why ? :)) Fiddly is not the word, it's wafer thin and very bendy.. and paint is not too happy to adhere to a gold metallic item.

Qwik tip... apply a blast of undercoat and sealant before painting. (Not sure if the canopy framing is going to align on this... time will tell). Best bit... the proper 200 series jet pipes and the alloy wheel rims :)

All in all a worthy edition.. but be warned it is fiddly - and you need to chop/saw bits off the original if you making 558.

What are the differences in the jetpipes???? They all look the same to me.

basically ... the angle of the pipes away from the rudder, longer and tapper to a smaller opening i think

The Airfix model is based on the 300 series engines and jet pipes.

If anyone is building the 558 version - the 200 series jet pipes are required for accuracy. Bovril is correct in his thoughts :)
