Re: Cold War Jets Open Day - 25th August

Postby MOD » Thu Aug 01, 2013 6:28 pm

Ray if you edit your topic heading I am sure Wedgy or one of the Mods will 'Sticky' this and all subsequent posts and photos can be placed here?

Quote: "The next scheduled Cold War Jets Open Day is Sunday 25th August 2013. The days are open to the public and gates open typically at 9am, with the first taxi at approx 11am. Admittance is £15 for adults, £10 for OAP’s and disabled, with accompanied children under 16 years old free of charge, all payable on the gate on the day."

I have been there at 09.00 in the past and still found hundreds of people already there. On arrival you will receive a printed schedule so you can choose which runs to get up close to. For these you will need to be near the runway threshold and behind the orange plastic fence. NB bring ear-defenders!!

Bring food and drink as although there is a catering hut the queues can be very long and slow at lunchtime.

I suggest your first visit though is to the LPG 'Q' sheds. You won't miss them - that's where most of the crowd will be, initially at least.

Ian

Ray, I think Gaz wants you to visit the Guppy. Whatever you do, go mob-handed because Gaz likes to creep up and take all of your money. :D

Ear defenders?????? Whatever for? Speak up a bit! :p

Thank You Ray!

Not a bad one in the bunch, and that

mention the Guppy portrait :D

Great pics, couldn't get there on Sunday for the first time in years (due to my other half arranging for our offsping to get christened, unfortunately!) but did the VC10 perform?
