Fairford 2012 USAF Concerns?

Postby SnailRFC » Thu May 31, 2012 8:26 pm

Am I right to be concerned by the lack of USAF stuff currently at the show or can we expect a number of announcements over the next month? I know stuff is tied up and seemingly more than ever, and the USAF participation seems to be less and less year by year, but this looks pretty pathetic on paper right now given what we are used to seeing at what used to be a show of force and domination every year.

Somebody ease my fears please! :)

I've heard from a couple of different sources that the USAF are quiet this year.

Not unexpected after all didn't ACC [Air Combat Command] issue a statement at the start of the year that cutting back on its participation in airshows this year [with overseas shows being of low priority] as a cost cutting measure ?
Im sure we had a thread on it somewhere ?
Will add it when I find it ;)

Personally im thankful that RIATs getting any US participation at all , still it looks like its going to be a good one this year ;)

Edit
Heres the thread ;)

Thanks for the info chaps.
The lineup looks pretty good to me, just the US participation seems to get smaller and smaller and it's something I always look forward to very much each year.
Guess I just think back to the days I used to go as a teenager and the participation seemed to be twice the size across the board.

Just my two cents.......

Some of it is politics, and participation at
US airshows seems to be off as well...

I don't think it's budgetary, although the
current occupant of the White House is
no help on this score....

I truly believe things will get back to
normal in future years, and you may very
well have some last-minute or surprise
additions to some UK shows this year :)

Our military LOVES doing this stuff for
you guys, and they consider it to be a
privilege!

REALLY!!!!

I mean, it all comes under the heading
of "Training" anyhow.....

I like to do my planning retroactively!
